some of you may have read that ill be launching a free youtube channel where you can view some of my trading videos where i discuss everything from a to z. in trading, market commentary, and stock picks...

im still in the middle of creating some videos and doing some editing but need help from some of you guys. so tell me...

- would you prefer more technical, market commentary, or individual stock videos?
- what are some specific topics you'd like to see?
- whats your attention span in minutes per video?
- do you know of any good video programs that can record voice + capture certain parts of my screen? (preferably free)

also, the more views/subscribers i get, the more frequently i'll update especially with stock picks and technical explanations..

Camstudio is a pretty good recording system.  I think they have a free version.

I have a short attention span -- about 5 mins.
I prefer discussion of setups and exectuion.
Live trades are always cool.
Good luck.

I would agree with Golfman25.

Five minutes or less.

Set-up and why.
Entry and why.
Exit and why.

Maybe 10 to 20% of videos about market but mostly stocks.

Other ideas:

Timeframes.
Daytrade set-ups
Swing Trade set-ups
Long trades
Short trades
What to look for in picking a candidate.

Good Luck

Thanks

I would agree with my esteemed collegues from the East.

The What
The Why
The How

Reasonable short time

Perhaps different degrees of complexity, for us simple minded folks

I agree with Diceman:  light on market commentary and heavy on the rationale for the trade, setup, trigger, and exit.  Five minutes sounds like a good limit.

Sounds interesting!

No one here has mentioned Celebrity Gossip or or Reality Television Roundup?

Just kidding.

I also think 5 minutes would be fantastic.  You might want to include position sizing/money management and/or a trading psychology thought of the day.

Good luck.

wse,

I agree with everything above...

As far as video recording I dont know if this will fit the bill for you or not but I use a free program from Microsoft called Community Clips.  It will record what you have on your screen (audio also) and I use it a lot to create training videos for software we use at work. People can view my screen as I step through various functions of the software. Just Google Microsoft Community Clips.

Cool idea!

Meta task:
It would also be cool if during your learning process of doing these videos you kept notes and posted your experince and learnings at some point, just in case there are others willing to take the plunge.

One additional thought, if the video is presenting a collection of selected charts, sharing the watchlist on Stockfinder would make post review of the charts, or view-time review, via pause, easier.

Howdy Ken (Wse)... I agree with David. I think that the new traders could "profit" from learning the basic psychology of trading. Money managment should be high on the list too; Then maybe some basic education on indicators and then finally leading up to some live trades and market analysis.

Good luck with the video series I cannot wait to check them out.

The chess board will still be their when I am not so busy...

I'm not familiar with UTube capabilities - but, one of the great things behind the Worden webinars is that they can be viewed (and downloaded) anytime - not just the time they are originally broadcast.  That would be important because not everyone is available at the same time.  Other than that, I would concur with the previous suggestions.

Thanks for your willingness to share ideas

Regards

youtube allows you to download each video for a nominal fee of  $0.99 then you can move it to your ipod, cd, dvd, or anywhere else you'd like so that you can view it any time...

thanks for the ideas all, i started creating some videos and am just trying to come up with good intros/exits to each video, maybe a theme song haha

to make sure the videos are interesting and apply to everyone, tell me this people...

what are your most common problems when it comes to trading? whether it be an actual aspect of the trade, missing the trade, or being purely psychological?

Ken I think that a good (new) name for you would be "Protrader"

Anyway starting tomorrow I will be very busy for some time. When I return; I am sure that your videos will inspir and educate some folks that could sure use it.

Good luck pal. (I will stop in maybe once a week to see how it is going)

Hi wse,
The biggest area I have trouble with is identifying which stocks I should be watching. You posted a few items and I would love to be able to narrow down the list to such a degree. Actually any help in that area would be great, video or otherwise.
Thanks,
L

are there any specific strategies/websites that you all use for your technical analysis? i'd probably like to dissect them or go into them a little deeper in the upcoming youtube videos.. i think it would be pretty interesting stuff

if you want to post your strategy and have it peeked at, just post it below :D

There's only one way to go -- The A-Team Theme Song.  LOL
Or Magnum PI.
Just watched both on my iphone -- I think I need a mustache and an '86 Ferrari.

I'm pretty sure they have online royaly free music, check into that.

If it relates to the recent year in economics:

Thriller by Michael Jackson (RIP)
Ball of Confusion by the Temptations
When the World is Running Down by the Police.
The Gambler by Kenny Rogers.
Canary in the Coalmine by the Police.
Helter Skelter by the Beatles.
Get Back by the Beatles
If Six was Nine by Jimmy Hendrix.
Manic Depression by Jimmy Hendrix
Anything by Five Finger Death Punch.

If it relates to the recent market rally:

Short People Got No Reason to Live by Randy Newman
What's Going On by Marvin Gaye.
How High the Moon by Les Paul (RIP)
Lucy In The Sky with Diamonds by the Beatles
The Magical Mystery Tour by the Beatles
Up, Up and Away by the Fifth Dimension.
Good Vibrations by the Beach Boys.
Ode to Joy by Bach

Typically anything in the Death Metal genre works well.
There's just something about no fifth guitar crunch and
trading that go well together.
(especially in dropped tuning)

Diceman...you sound like you play guitar!  Dropped D tuning for heavy crunching is always cathartic to me....it's almost like hitting a punching bag.

WSE - if it's music, how long would you want it to be and what kind of vibe?

"Bad Moon Rising", C. Clearwater Revival.  Good for almost anything in these troubled times.

One of three tapes in my rig.....

("Twilight of the Gods" and "How's Bayou" Cajun music the other two)

My suggestions were somewhat tongue in cheek and relates more to
how the title of the song fits that environment.

I'm not sure how it works but I would imagine there is some type of
copywrite protection on popular songs.

There must be places that supply generic music for this type of
application.

Your best bet would be if you knew someone who played music.

I'm sure a simple keyboard pad and electric drums would suffice.
You could even say something like "Stock Market Charts" with heavy
reverb and echo. Bingo you have your intro.

Thanks

I don't get by here often, I find not listening to these debates helps my trading. this looks interesting for some one looking for ideas.
Try some ending moves up or down, showing how to look for trades in the other direction as this move is completed.

ok so right now im torn between using part of magnum pi or a team as the opening song for my videos lol...

also does anyone have a list of websites, strategies, etc that they use that i can mention in the videos?

i've been writing up a giant list of a topics and how to break down the videos etc... also the more viewers/subscribers i have, the more frequently ill post the videos... so right now the plans are 1 or 2 videos a week and if i get more ill probably start doing 1 video per day or even several per day (containing live trading)
