In TC2k chat rooms, that have been around for quite a few yrs now, members are still posting PCF's off their tc2k. Will these PCF's still be applicable, in most cases (or in all cases?), to tc2005? In other words, has the PCF language changed at all through the evolution of tc2k to tcnet to tc2005? Has the syntax and the symbols to write the formulas (PCF's) varied at all from version-to-version as the yrs have gone by?

The PCF syntax has always been backward compatible.

I just watched the video on how to do a PCF on Price Percent Change 45 days ago. I was intrested in creating a PCF which would show me Price Percent Change Year to date. I know the basic formula would be ((C1-X)/X*100)where X is the price at the beginning of the year. My question is if anyone knows how to calculate X. (Do I include all days or just trading days?)If anyone has done a PCF for YTD and would like to share it I would greatly appreciate it.

I am very interested in writing a formular for bullish engulfing patterns. I have followed (I think) to a t on how do do this. However in my easy scan I can't put in values for "open as % of close" and open as % of close yest" both of these in my easy scan have "true" after it. I'm sure I've done something wrong but can't figure it out. Also the values on "open yest as % of close yest"(153.842 to max) (this is the closest I can get to 100) and "close as % of open yest" (min to max) I can't seem to get the values that I need. Any suggestions? Thanks Steve

Volatility is a concept more than an indicator. That said, numerous indicators try to measure volatility to some extent.
On another note, it is generally best to start a new topic when asking questions unrelated to the existing topic and confine follow-up questions to an existing related topic. You may wish to review the following:

C > C1 AND C > AVGC50 AND AVGC50 > AVGC200 AND V > 1.5 * AVGV50
This is what i have saved as the PCF.
i am getting some stocks with 50 dma under the 200 dma and some stock's with prices that are lower than the prior day
this is not easy, can somebody help me get this problem solved???

First, I want the stock to be up for the day (Price Percent Change today, 0.01 to Max), the stock to be trading above the 50 dma (C > AVGC50), the 50 dma to be above the 200 dma (AVGC50 > AVGC200).
Second, I want the volume to be at least 1.5x the 50 day volume average (V > 1.5 * AVGV50). On one scan I have stocks that have to avg. 100k shares a day for the past 50 days (AVG50 >= 1000). On a seperate one I have one that trades avg. 20k to 100k (more speculative, wider spreads) (AVGV50 >= 200 AND AVGV50 <= 1000).
The above is what I was suggested.
"C > C1 AND C > AVGC50 AND AVGC50 > AVGC200 AND V > 1.5 * AVGV50" <--- Is this is the correct formula for the suggestion?

I tried the PCF editing formula using the instruction by Bob. My parenthesis is not curved but I did match everything but didn't have a test symbol for the formula test. This was the one the original was, [editing formula for price percent change 5 day]. Keep getting error. here it is:[[C -C5 / C5] * 100.

The parentheses need to be curved (they are generally shifted 9 and shifted 0). Squared off brackets are not correct syntax.

The Error in Formula Syntax message is an error message while the Market Days needed to Calculate Criteria message is informative and not an error.
I suspect the problem is that you are including both the title of the Personal Criteria Formula and the sorting note below the formula when Copying and Pasting the formula into TeleChart. Please try posting just the formula instead:
C1 > O1 AND C1 < O AND O1 > C

I cannot think of a practical automated method of doing so using the current Personal Criteria Formula Language in either the current production release of TeleChart or the TC2000.com version 11 beta.

You should be able to highlight the formula in forums and either right-click and select copy or use ctrl-c to copy. You will need to use ctrl-v to paste the formula into TC2000 version 12 however as right-click paste is not available.

The video is for TC2000 version 7.
In TC2000 version 12, you would select Indicators | New Indicator Formula or Conditions | New Condition Formula to create a formula.
