I'm new and using TC2000 to try binary options trading. My broker, besides offering mostly currencies, also has crude oil and gold in the commodities list. However, I don't know any symbols for Gold or Oil that match what my broker shows. I understand there are tons of types of oil, but the price should be what reveals it as the correct one (I know it can be off by 10 pips or so).

No luck!

What are the symbols to type into the "Change Symbol" dialogue box in order to pull up crude oil and gold?

thanx

You aren't going to find the symbols you want as TC2000 does not currently carry commodities data.

Thanks, Bruce! I thought I was losing my mind. I searched all over the internet for the symbols and no matter what I typed into TC2000, nothing would come up . Makes sense now.

I typically use etfs as you can trade those also and they look & act like stocks.  For oil I use USO to track it and GLD for gold.

Then when I am daytrading them which has been very lucrative of recent with the huge volaitlity in commodities I use leveraged etfs that track those 2.  So for oil the 2x etf is UCO and 3x is UWTI.  and for gold I use NUGT.  The key with these is to keep your position sizes relatively small as the volatility can wipe you out if your on the wrong side.

Technically, NUGT is not the 3X Bull etf for gold, but the 3X Bull etf for Gold Miners, the base etf would be GDX. 3X Bear etf for miners is DUST.

I use UGLD as the 3X Bull etf for Gold, and DGLD as the 3X Bear ETF for Gold. There are others but I think these are the highest volume, and hence the most liquid.

XOIL.X is Light Sweet Crude index and was suggested by bcochrane as a possibility.
