TC2000 does not currently carry pre-/post-market data so a scan like this is not possible at this point.

What happened to the Easyscans in the Quick List Window?  In TC2007 - all of your Easyscans were located just below your Personal Watchlists section in the drop down selection menu.  This made it extremely easy to just go to the particular scan that you wanted to review and pull up that day's list.  When you selected the particular scan, it showed up with the same sort lists that you had for every other watchlist (unless you intentionally changed it).  If it's not available in V12 - PLEASE ADD IT BACK!!!  When I select the Easyscan Icon on the left side of the screen, it pulls up a new window THAT DOESN'T INCLUDE THE SORT LISTS THAT I NEED (it includes the following defaults: Price, Volume, % Change, and Net Change) - and it won't let you define the columns that you want displayed!!!!  Every time you close that window, then reopen it - it is back to the default!!!   What happened?????????

In TC2000 version 12, all WatchLists have a Scan button in them. It has a lightening bolt and will say Scan, Off or x min ago. You can select this button and select Open Scan to open any previously created Scan. Select Scan in this window to apply the Scan to the current WatchList.

Indicators, Sorting & Scanning

TC2000 version 12 always opens for me with the same Workspaces, WatchLists, Columns, Charts and Indicators which were open when I last closed the program. If this is not the case for you, try selecting File | Save Desktop to force a save and see if this helps. You can also save a specific Column configuration by selecting Save Scan or Columns (the floppy disk icon at the top of the WatchList) and choosing Save Columns. This will allow you to reload any Column grouping later by selecting Columns and choosing the name used to save the Columns.

Bruce, please re-read my prior post - I must not have been clear in what I was trying to get across.  The point is that in TC2007 using the watchlist window was far more efficient (i.e. less keystrokes).  Additionally, to view the same list of stocks with different sorts was extremely easy - you just selected a different tab (one of 10).  If you changed watchlists - the sort columns stayed the same.

I tried saving desktop - it doesn't fix what I'm talking about, saving columns doesn't work either.

The closest thing in V12 is go to the Scans Icon - select a particular scan that you want to view.  When that window comes up it has a default of Price, Volume, % Change, etc. (but not the sort columns that I want).  What I'm trying to do is go to the Scan Icon - select the scan that I want, when that window comes up it has the particular sort columns that I want.  Additionally, on that same window that was just pulled up, I want to be able to choose a different set of sort columns.  This was accomplished in TC2007 by selecting one of 10 different tabs -  in TC 2007  - "That Was Easy".  I can't seem to find an easy way of doing this any more and saving the workspace doesn't seem to help when I want to change the sort column list.

Please let me know if this clarifies things.  Why make things more complicated?  Please add back the tabs and don't open a new window when you pull up scans or watchlists (i.e. make it like TC2007 which was much simpler) so you don't have to save and reload and then save and reload columns and all that other stuff.  Keep It Simple!!!!

Your suggestion will certainly be submitted to development and given full consideration. That said, the shift away from both a single WatchList with WatchList tabs and from treating EasyScans as just another type of WatchList are significant paradigm shifts brought in from StockFinder which are designed to add flexibility compared to TeleChart 2007's approach. It would not be a simple matter to just revert to the way TeleChart 2007 does it as these changes are deeply imbedded into TC2000 version 12.

TC2000 version 12 is designed to combine the best features of TeleChart 2007 and StockFinder and put the result on the cloud where our servers do the work instead of your computer. There is an attempt to keep the look, feel and simplicity of use from TeleChart 2007 as much as possible while also introducing as much of the flexibility of StockFinder into the resulting program as practical considering it is both cloud based and seen as TeleChart 2007's successor.

There are absolutely no plans to discontinue TeleChart 2007. It is a very good program. If it does what you want, the way you want it done, it may be the best program for you. You may want to take a look at the Using TC2000.com in addition to TeleChart 2007 video if you like some of the features of both programs.

It was easier to just select an EasyScan from list of WatchLists than to apply a Scan to an existing WatchList. This simplicity comes at the expense of versatility however. If you wanted to apply the same Scan to different WatchLists, you would have to completely duplicate the EasyScan with a different WatchList to Scan or manually edit the EasyScan to change the WatchList to Scan.

Applying a Scan to a WatchList was taken from StockFinder where it was called a Filter. Instead of an EasyScan just being another type of WatchList, you create a Scan once and then can apply it to any WatchList. The WatchList and Scan for each WatchList display can be adjusted independently.

At the top of each WatchList display, you have a WatchList drop-down menu. This is the same as in TeleChart 2007, but in TC2000 version 12, there is lightening bolt icon to the right of this drop-down menu saying Scan, Off or x min ago. Clicking on this lightening bolt icon allows you to choose, create, edit, run or turn off the Scan for that WatchList display.

Having a Scan running in a WatchList Display limits the symbols displayed to those which are both in the WatchList selected in the drop-down menu and which also meet the requirements of the Scan. You can change the WatchList selected and the Scan being used independently. Changing either the selected WatchList or Scan does not change the WatchList Columns being displayed in any way.

What you seem to be doing is selecting the Scan box along the left hand side instead of the Scan icon that looks like a lightning bolt at the top of the WatchList display.

Selecting the Scans box or WatchLists box along the left hand side creates an entirely new WatchList display. It will use the "default columns" you have set for program as a whole. You can adjust these default colunms by clicking on the floppy disk icon at the top of a WatchList display (to the right of the WatchList drop-down menu and lightening bolt scan icons) and choosing Make these my default columns. You can set the default WatchList for a Scan by selecting Make this my default WatchList.

You can select Add Column (the orange + in a circle to the right of the WatchList Column Headers) and select any item which says "Multiple Columns" to replace all of the WatchList Columns with a previously saved set of WatchList Columns. Any Column without the "Multiple Columns" designation will just add a Column to those already there, but a "Multiple Columns" selection will replace everything.

You can select Save Scans or Columns (the floppy disk to the right of the drop-down menu and lightening bolt icon) and choose Save Columns to save all of the Columns in WatchList display as a "Multiple Columns" item which can be loaded later to completely replace the Columns in the WatchList display.

In addition, it is possible to duplicate the 10 WatchList Tabs funcitonality from TeleChart 2007 in TC2000 version 12 to some extent.

When you add a Scan or WatchList using the Scans and WatchLists boxes on the left, the new WatchList display will initially come up in a floating window. There is an icon near the top of the Window that looks like arrows pointing up, down, left and right from the center. Clicking it will allow you to place it anywhere in the grid representing the current Workspace.

If you use Tab With and select an existing WatchList display, there will now be Tabs along the top of that WatchList display allowing you to select whichever WatchList or Scan you want. Each one of these Tabs can have their own WatchList Columns.

The main differences between WatchList Displays which have been Tabbed in TC2000 version 12 and TeleChart 2007's WatchList Tabs are that you can have as many WatchLists tabbed together in TC2000 version 12 as you want and that each Tab also has its own WatchList or Scan instead of all Tabs having the same WatchList or EasyScan.

I would very much recommend the Organizing your Workspaces video for a better idea of how this all works as the same concepts can be applied to Charts as can be applied to WatchLists. You can have as many WatchList displays or Charts as you want, and you can put them exactly where you want on the grid including tabbing them together.

Bruce,

Thank you!!!  I actually had seen the video before, but, whenever I tried doing what they said, I would get one large blank screen.  What it amounted to was that I had all floating windows, but, once I got things onto a grid, I finally figured out how to do the "Tab With".  After using this program for more than 15 years (since 95), trying to learn all new structures can be difficult - and even more so if you miss one little piece of info like I did!  Once figuring out the underlying structure, then things start becoming easy.  BUT - there are two things that I haven't been able to figure out (due to lack of availability in V12).

One - there are only 500 days of historical data.  I hope they plan to increase this as I always look at the complete historical picture of stocks and the market in general (I know it's available for the Dow, but, am talking about all stocks).

Two - and this one is CRITICAL for those who travel a lot like me.  I have always in the past, used TC2007 and previous versions on a plane and am OFTEN not able to connect to the internet (i.e. rendering V12 useless).  I understand that since V12 operates using Cloud servers, this isn't possible.  So I'll offer some possible solutions that I would appreciate having discussed in your development meetings:
1.  Be able to download the latest data (and workspace structures, etc.) onto your computer so the program operates like TC2007 when not connected to the Cloud servers.
2.  Be able to download a given watchlist of data (with a limit of historical data to 500 days or even just one year) onto your computer (along with the workspace structures, etc.).  This would at least allow someone to perform basic analysis and manipulate the program without being connected to the cloud.
3.  Modify TC2007 structure to that of V12 (workspaces, etc.), but, utilize a data download as it does now.

When I envision the necessary structure for this, I do see a lot of technicalities that may render this a pipe dream at best, but, please pass the fact that not all people always have access to the internet on to the development team as I'm probably not the only one who is in this situation.

Thank you again!

I'm happy to read that once the missing piece clicked into place, things became easier. We have tried to make things intuitive, but the significant changes between TeleChart 2007 and TC2000 version 12 can still result in relatively steep learning curve.

Both of the shortcoming you have mentioned have been discussed internally. My guess would be that more than 500 bars of data will become available at some point, but I've been wrong about future features before. I certainly would not want to speculate on the timing and exact details and could not say anything if I knew.

Keep in mind adding more data results in tradeoffs in performance and, in a cloud environment, the resources are being shared amongst all users.

TC2000 version 12 operating in the cloud has many advantages. It generally results in better overall performance, especially on computers without a lot of horsepower. We can tweak the program without requiring a new disk or a large download. The fact that it is essentially running in a browser means it can run on almost any operating system. It also means that idiosyncrasies in how a somebody's particular computer is set up are far less likely to result in problems requiring technical support.

There are tradeoffs however. The biggest being that the program is not available when you don't have an internet connection. It is an issue which affects us personally. Most of the customer training department spends a significant amount of time on the road and they often encounter the type of situation you describe where the availability and quality of internet connections is less than ideal. Having an offline component is probably the only way to address this issue.

An offline component might allow more than just the ability to work without an internet connection. I already pointed out that making more than 500 bars of data uses more shared resources. While the fact that it uses more resources would affect anybody doing so, it would not be a shared burden if the feature was only available locally and not on the server.

One of the features I miss most from StockFinder is RealCode. It adds incredible flexibility. I can't imagine we would allow arbitrary RealCode to run on our servers however. Bringing RealCode (or something similar) to TC2000 version 12 would probably require an offline component as a result.

As you have pointed out, there are barriers to implementing an offline component however. Many of the advantages of cloud computing are lost. The offline components do not get the performance boost which results from running on the cloud. The offline portions needs to be kept in sync with the online components resulting in more downloads. The offline portion would most likely be Windows only, or if it wasn't, would require creating multiple versions. Having both an online and offline component creates more complications than having either on their own, complications which would quite likely require more technical support.

So while I too would really like to be able to run TC2000 version 12 offline, I also have the same fears that it might be a pipe dream even though it is being considered.

Ya, it is unfortunate, I was off the market for sometime, and just when I am about to get back in and reactivate my subcription, I noticed that I no longer have the offline tc2000, for that reason alone, I have to look somewhere else, which is unfortunate, for I have been a TC subcriber since long...long time ago, although on and off depending on whether I am in the market, I really like the program.

while I have waited long enough for my pipe dream, guess time for me to seriously look somewhere else :-(

TC2000 version 12 does not have an offline version available, but TC2000 version 7 continues to run offline just fine.

You can still use TC2000 version 7 that you used before and have offline capability.  We will continute to support version 7.
