Version 1 cannot be updated to 2. You have to download 2 at www.Blocks.com.

Version 2 does not use TeleChart Data and requires subscription(s) to Blocks Data.

You can have both Version 1 and 2 on the same machine. Version 1 is no longer available for download.

If Blocks 2.0 doesn't use Telechart feed, what do we have to do to get a data feed?

What data feeds are available and functional now?

For what it's worth, I attended a Blocks seminar in Detroit in January. I mention this because I recall seeing a post regarding a data feed that was currently available only to attendees of a seminar.

Thanks,
Bob

v 2.0 was just released on friday 5/25/2007. Version 1.3 will upgraded automatically at some point in the future, but because it requires new service to use, we have not forced the upgrade on v1.3.

For more information visit http://www.blocks.com/ or call 1-800-776-4940

Paid for a year of what? BackScanner no longer has a charge associated with it (its free with Blocks now).

I paid for a Backscanner subscription when it first became available Craig. I received a reduced lifetime price for being an early adopter.

I subsequently received an email from Worden saying the price of BackScanner was being reduced, and that my one-year subscription would be extended out to take this price reduction into account.

Your post that Backscanner is now free is the first I have heard this new information Craig.

So I'm a bit confused as to what the current situation is, and what I am receiving for what I paid for.

Is what I paid for Backscanner going to be applied to a new realtime data feed?

Just trying to understand the new situation Craig.

Thanks,
Bob

Yes I paid for backscanner if it no longer has a charge then what is my $499 paying for? I did get a note saying my one-year subscription would be extended out to take this price reduction into account but if its included why has the remaning amount not been refunded? I paid for a year and you made it free 6 month later I should get refunded 6 months worth of subscription?

No lecture or citing of my resume in the software/sales industry, but I do need to make note that it's probably not a good practice that customers who have paid in advance for a product/service find out on a bulletin board that what they have already paid for in excess of a year, is now being made available for free.

The words "paid for a year of what?" is rubbing salt in the wounds of apparently being the last to find out something of which we should have been the first.

Paid in advance customers for a product/service shouldn't have to go to a bulletin board, and worse yet, asking on a bulletin board, if what they have already paid for is being given away for free.

Just a suggestion of customer consideration that might be observed in the future. I think this was poorly handled.

With respect, but disappointment,
Bob

Sorry to come across the wrong way, Bob.

I asked my question because I did not know if he had paid in advance for data or BackScanner.

This should all be seen as great news.

BackScanner was $30 a month... now its free. Anyone that pre-paid for it can get all their remaining time back as a money refund or use it to expand their service to other feeds.

Here is the new pricing... the official announcement should come out of marketing very soon.

[EDITED] Prices subject to change.

You can subscribe to as many as you like. ALL of the feeds work in Blocks for charting OR BackScanning.

Version 2 is a very exciting step for Blocks. Wait till you start scanning and charting this data. At these prices we hope everyone will get a chance to harness the power of the program.

Michaelc1507,
There aren't any plans to phase out TeleChart. Blocks is a completely different program. It just has some features allowing it to be linked to TeleChart so they work better together.

Michaelc1507,

Blocks is not an upgrade or a replacement for TeleChart.

Blocks is a program brought to us via a partnership between Worden and The Blocks Company.

Worden now has two products; TeleChart and Blocks.

I need more clarity on this issue. If we run both Telechart and Blocks Player, will we be paying $299.90 for a year of Telechart AND $99.99 for a year of Blocks Player? If we do this, what are the advantages with keeping Telechart if we primarily use Blocks Player? If we decide to just use Blocks Player and not Telechart, can our Telechart credit (I paid ahead for two years) be applied to Blocks Player? Does Blocks Player 2.0 have scanning capability (Easy Scan) like Telechart)? Is it intended that Telechart is a product for those content with built in indicators and a modest personal criteria language set and that Blocks Player is intended for the more sophisticated investor with programming knowledge? Please explain what Worden has in mind for these products.

Your TeleChart Gold subscription gives you access to many things that are not in Blocks. For example:
- Worden Notes
- Nightly Worden Report
- WatchList Management
- MoneyStream
- Balance of Power

You can take any of your remaining paid months of Gold and use them towards any Blocks Data package.

QUOTE

Not only does Blocks have scanning for current events, the scanning in Blocks let you scan for any event at any point in history AND it lets you backtest as well.

It is over 4 years of historical one-minute data on every common stock in the three major markets. You can scan, plot, aggregate and crunch this data any way you want. It includes the next year of tick-by-tick REAL TIME streaming updates (exchange fees are extra). No symbol limits, you stream the entire universe at once.

Wow!

quite a discussion! I still don't understand;

1. will Blocks V2 suck in Telechart data? as version 1.34 does now.

2. thus the Blocks V2 data feed would be optional?

3. could I operate Blocks V2 without telechart

thanks

marcj,
Blocks 2 does not use TeleChart data but can still work with TeleChart to some extent. Blocks 2 can access TeleChart's Watchlists, Active Symbol, Active Watchlist, Active Sorted Watchlist, Chart End Date, Chart Note Date, Chart Start Date, Comparison Symbol, Note Date, Note Price, Pointer Date, Pointer Value and Time Frame.

You need a Blocks data feed to use Blocks 2.

You can operate Blocks 2 without TeleChart.

Does Blocks 2 have a users guide?
Is there a way to easily walk through many examples to learn the product?

I have not seen any additional user guides/vidios.

Although, I did install it last night. It is really pretty kool. I can assure you that all comes clear in minutes.

the word intuitive comes to mind. Blocks Development has really done a good job.

jmat2413,
Blocks does not currently have any Watchlist management features. You should have all system, component and industry lists in Blocks (anything we maintain) without TeleChart installed. If you don't have TeleChart you won't have Personal Watchlists.

Let me see if I understand.

With Blocks I will be able to Backscan and use the four Worden Tools for Blocks (which are not available to TC2007) only if I subscribe to the price data feed.

Without the price data feed I will only be able to massage the Hemscott data (which is available in TC2007). Without the price data feed I will not be able to manage any of the watchlist data such as sorts, PCFs, etc. Is this correct?

From this I conclude that if I want to make use of Backscan, etc. and have the ability to massage watchlists, then I must subscribe to both TC2007 and Blocks and pay twice for the price data. Is that correct?

By the way, previously you dodged the question about the cost of the feeds for Blocks. What will the cost of the data feed for prices?

That's a good question. I noticed it when I started Blocks 2. A little blocks icon in the task bar; you know by the clock in windows menu. SHOW the data manager -> select "Daily Data" and then "Force Update". it is audited EOD so you have to wait until 3 to 5 hours after close of trading. It is lighting fast.

Just to be clear:

There is no "free" data in Blocks V2. Marcj, I can only assume you are getting the data as part of a previous Blocks purchase. You can call 800.776.4940 so they can explain your current Blocks subscription status.

Go to http://www.blocks.com for details on the pricing of Blocks services and the bundle deals for TeleChart customers.

You can also call 800.776.4940 for more details on the price of Blocks services.

What are the "four Worden Tools for Blocks"?

The Blocks Strategy Trader now includes stock daily pricing and historical financial data. They are no longer separated. TeleChart ONLY has current financial data. It does NOT have the up to 14 years of historical financial data available in the Blocks Strategy Trader.

QUOTE

There is currently no WatchList management in Blocks. It does read any Personal WatchLists you may have in TeleChart if that TeleChart is installed on the same computer. There is currently no sorting in Blocks but all of this will change soon. Soon you will be able to manage WatchLists and sort in Blocks. PCFs are TeleChart only entities... they don't exist in Blocks at all.

QUOTE

If you want to test strategies in Blocks you must have at least the Blocks Strategy Trader pack. This is $39.99 a month on its own but you can get a combo special. TeleChart Gold + Blocks Strategy Trader is only $49.99 a month. As I mention above, it will be very soon that you can sort and manage WatchLists in Blocks.[/quote]
