Terrific call signaltap2.   As of 3:15, this market has tumbled over 200 points in the past hour or so.

Thanks for the posts,

QUOTE (signaltap2)
I "stick to my guns" bears will win eventually!

I believe that you're right ... but possibly not as quickly as you may think ...

I've seen major tops take weeks and weeks to build ... as the major averages thrash around tempting you to come and play ...

And just when you think it's safe to go back in the water ... JAWS is there waiting on you .... and you're whiplashed ...

Although I'm pretty much on the sidelines now ... I would not be at all surprised to see 14,500/1600 ... before it finally gives up ...

You see .... somewhere in the mountains of Montana ... there is a hermit living in a cave ... that still has a quarter in his pocket ....

And the market has a disquietening way of waiting til it has it all .... before it trys to take it all ....

I'm out now very simply because, in my humble opinion, the risk outweighs the potential reward ....

Back in '87 and agin in '94 .... I sat and watched it fall for hours ... without an uptick ....

Thanks for your input realitycheck.  I thought I was the only one pretty much sitting on the sidelines right now.

signaltap2 ...

After a decisive break of what level would you consider this market a decent short ?

Just eyeballing it, looks to me like a decisive break of the 13,950 area ... might lead things lower ....

Yep ...

Time for the market to face a few harsh realities ....

No FF rate cut coming on Halloween ... and the 50 basis point cut in September was likely a mistake ...

Crude climbing out $85/bbl ... is not a good thing ...

Inflation continues to be a huge threat ... as demonstrated by virtually all of the commodities markets ....

The subprime/derivative problems are far deeper than anyone thought ... or still thinks ... for that matter ...

Readjustment in process ...

Went to 25% cash this morning. Still hold energy related stocks, commodity and global ETF plays, some large caps with strong export business, and some very high dividend reits. I believe Dow 13750 is a given and maybe 13250.

Wait ... wait ...

Not so fast ...

Somebody's coming ...

Who is it ??

It's that cave-dwelling hermit from Montana ...

He's reaching in his pocket ...

He's got something .... what has he got ....

IT'S A QUARTER !!

He's walking over to a floor trader ...

He tells the trader to put it all on RED ....

Can he do it ??

Can the hermit save the day ??

Stay tuned sports fans ....

I dunno ....

Overnight action didn't seem so bad ....

And so far ... this has been very "orderly" ....

Back in '94 ... during the Asian Currency Crisis ... it seems like every other morning for a month ... when I got up ... S&P futures were lock limit down ....

And often ... that didn't have much to do with that day's market direction ...

13,700 ?

I was hoping for something more along the lines of 12,500 ... although it'll likely take a few tiers to get there ....

So ...

What are thinking signaltap2 ?

The volume isn't accelerating ... the bears don't seem very enthusiastic ...

The point decline is decelerating ... day over day ... not typical for continuation of a sell off ...

I was sort of hoping for a third crow ....

But ... if I had to bet ... I'm thinking tomorrow starts a rally back to old highs ... and maybe above ...

Your thoughts ?

13,827 = 1 min 55 EMA  , so lets see if this little rally is for real. IF not, will hit another low!

if the 55 ema 1min break (13853)  then will sink hard on the last 15 min of trading!
