I am new to this program...I would like a scan to find stocks where the 3 day moving average has just crossed the 12 day moving average up or down. I found a video about 40 day crossing over the 200 but it was for 3 days ago...I'm not sure how to alter it.

Thank You

Video Create PCFs and EasyScans to find moving average crossovers

I'm assuming the above video is the one you watched. If not, you should watch this one. Follow the procedures in the video, but use these PCF's instead:

(AVGC3/AVGC12)*100 (This compares the two moving averages today)

(AVGC3.1/AVGC12.1)*100 (This compares the two moving averages yesterday)

In your easy scan, look for values above 100 for the first PCF and values below 100 for the second PCF, and you'll find stocks where the 3 day moving average crossed up through the 12 day moving average today (yesterday the 3MA was below the 12MA, and today the 3MA is above the 12MA).

If you want crossdowns, look for values below 100 for the first PCF, and values above 100 for the second PCF.

I would like to do a PCF for moving average crossover for hourly period (like 8 period EMA crossing 43 period EMA). Do you have any insight on this? I appreciate your help.

Thanks!

mughilan,
Personal Criteria Formulas are based on Daily bars. Check out this video and see if it can help you do what you want:

Keep in mind you can only visually sort (or even look at) an hourly chart with Platinum service. I am showing you as having the gold level of service.

Thanks, Bruce and Craig! I just realized that I need a platinum service. I will think about that.
