Could you explain why a condition like this, lnooking for downtrend on the daily charts, 

 

AVGC35 <AVGC35.35< AVGC35.65

 

Would yield a chart like GOOG, which is clearly in a sustained uptrend?

At least in part, it could be because your syntax is not correct. You need to make each comparison individually.

AVGC35 < AVGC35.35 AND AVGC35.35 < AVGC35.65

This version of the Condition Formula does not currently return true for GOOG in a daily time frame.
