Hi there, I have added some custom PCFs to my charts. The only way I was able to do this was to select add indicator on the charts screen, select one of the custom PCF indicators, type in my formula and then add the indicator to my chart. The only issue is that the indicator name is the formula I created. Is there a way to name these custom indicators? It does not appear that the custom PCFs I created for my lists (which I can name) show up under indicators on the charts.Any help would be appreciated.ThanksG

In the current production release of TeleChart, it is possible to start the formula with the "name". You can even put the "name" on the first line and have the formula on the second line (although this requires writing the formula in another program and pasting it into the formula window).

This is not supported however (meaning it could stop working at any time) and great care must be taken in constructing the name. If it contains reserved symbols or words, TeleChart will see it as a formula and attempt to evaluate the name. This will normally result in an error of some sort, but could result in a mis-calculation instead.

In the TC2000.com version 11.0 beta, the built in error checking will prevent this technique from working. The TC2000.com version 11.1 beta adds adjustable labels that are designed to perform this function natively.

Hi Bruce, I am using TC 2000 V11.I would like it so that only the name shows up on my chart. If I write the name before the formula, the formula still appears after the name. Is there some proper syntax I need to be using?ThanksGeorge

In TC2000.com version 11.1, there is actually a label field which can be used to apply the name.

Hi Bruce, where is the label field? Like I said, when you create a pcf I see the label field. I build the pcf, however, that pcf does not appear in my chart indicator list...none of my custom pcfs appear in that list. I can only use my custom pcfs in my watchlist. To use a custom pcf on a chart, I have to insert the custom pcf indicator and then paste my code over the base code.Does this make sense?George

Do you have the TC2000.com version 11.1 beta from a live training class or the TC2000.com version 11.0 beta available on the website? The TC2000.com version 11.0 beta does not have the label feature for Custom Indicators.

When you create a Custom PCF Indicator, you need to create the formula by either copying it and pasting it or typing it. You cannot just use the name of an already created Personal Criteria Formula. That said, the Custom PCF Indicator has a Label field which initially says, "(leave blank for default)". If you fill in this name, it will use that as the name of the Indicator on the chart instead of using the formula.

If you want a Personal Criteria Formula which is added to the Chart as a Custom PCF Indicator to automatically include the name of the PCF as a label, you might want to submit it as a suggestion.
