Miller stood on his head and did not let in a weak goal.  Being Canadian it was frustrating watching Broduer, our goalie, turn the puck over to give an assist to Rafalski.  Good game to watch though despite not liking the outcome.

...because people perform better when they find areas of common interest outside their realm of expertise and task orientation, that's how.

Tiger 1220;     Overall not much,    just a little pride in the USA.

Did it take too much time from your busy day to read the post?     I think the post title kind of indicated the subject.

Next time I post something that doesn't pertain to stocks, I'll list it as such, so you won't become confused.

johnlc, no I wasnt confused as you say. When a heading to a forum is STOCK AND MARKET TALK one would think that people would post to that effect. I wonder if everyone just posted every event about the Olympic's and all the other sporting events going on, would this still be the forum it is. I have been a season ticket holder for many years of the Detroit Red wings but I need not post every time the win here. I go to other forums where the topic is talked about, I dont go there for stock research. As far as having pride in the USA, having served in combat for this country more than speaks for itself.

Tiger:   Thanks for your military service!     I really didn't think the post would offend anyone, being it is about our country,  plus the 30 year anniversary of the Miracle on Ice.

Maybe you had some inside info about where I'm from ,  Pittsburgh Pens,  and you had some bad memories of several months ago.

John, geesh, you just love stirring it up when it comes to sports, huh? Funny stuff. Tiger1220, I always make it a point to sincerely thank those that serve our country. Thank you, Sir.

No really, from close to Pitts, Pa.     Steelers and Pens.     Pirates really bad ownership.

Hey everyone can expect a little ribbing about one's favorite teams,  as long as it doesn't get nasty.

I took alot of abuse about the steelers not even making the playofffs.    But all in good fun.

tobydad, proud to do it and would do it again as any real American would do.
johnlc, the pens are on the cup  3 times and I will even toss in the Flyers for another 2...wow 5 times... now the Red Wings have been on the cup for a total of 11 times. No bad memories here. Just like STOCKS not all can be winners and not all winners can win all the time. But I would buy stock in the Red Wings any time,.They are always in a good trend.
And johnlc, it DOESN'T matter where one is from or going to. What DOES matter is one himself/herself and their respect  for others regardless of what they think. If we all had the same thoughts we would all buy the same stocks. The world doesn't work that way. I don't agree with everyone and everyone will not agree with me.
Now I can go to my sports forum and talk about stocks and the market.

This is great thread.

Even though my son is hockey fan, he and his geek & gamer friends are into curling - go figue. Curling is hot with all the blogging and forums. It still seems like shuffleboard on ice.

Tiger:   Kind of lost me on the thought process on your last post.     Oh well.

One more thing about the finals last year.    At the end of game 7, I was amazed at how the fans stayed in the arena and basically saluted both teams for a great championship series.   Cudos to the Red Wing fans.

johnlc...it is a simple question...how do you see a glass that is half full or half empty? Are you going to tell me you have never heard of this question?

Tiger:      It would take an extreme amount of sophisticated measuring  to get to half, which is an exact amount.       50/50    not    49.9999999999999999999999999  vs.  50.0000000000000000000000001

When i see the glass with more than 50% full then it is more than 50% full and vice versa.

Am I a pessimist or an optimist, just a realist.    I'm not looking at the world thru rose colored glasses.   Been around the block too many times.

If you have been in combat as you say, then you surely must be living in the real world, not in some pollyanna society where everything turns out perfectly in the end.     (aka Al Gore)

Fortunately or unfortunately , which ever perspective one decides to take,   I didn't pass the Marine Corp physical,  football knee, so I missed Vietnam in 1968.     But that's another subject.

Didn't say if you were a Lions fan.    They probably need new ownership.

johnlc, the point of the question was for enlightenment, as my LIFE MASTER in Asia has giving me I also will share with you and the few that read this also may gain.

In order to decided one MUST know the history of the water. If it was being poured into the glass,,,then it is half full...if it was being poured out of the glass then it is half empty.

You can use this in many paths of your life. It has a way of improving how situations can be presented to you in their real state and not how you may have seen them from your pass teachings of life.

After all, didn't the Asians use candlesticks for thousands of years? And now they are used in reading stock charts, Opp,,,I slipped and talked about stocks.

No Lions fan here. Game to slow and fans to drunk. And yes their stadium is half empty....fans are leaving.

Tiger:   Can't agree with your half full/empty scenario.   Suppose I have an empty glass that has a capacity of 16 oz..      Then I pour all of the water from a 2 oz. dixie cup into the 16 oz. glass.   Doesn't come close to being half.   Of course I look at situations from a simplistic standpoint.

Candles do paint a nice picture.     Did you go back in the achives and see the video on the ichimoku method.    Not real enthused about it.      Prefer Bollinger Bands for a picture.

Eventually we all get back to stock talk.    Have to break the monotony once in a while.

Good luck trading and root for the USA.

johnlc, I guess you miss the whole point of enlightenment. The glass was never empty to begin with. You seem to have to change what is, to what you want it to be, so you don't have to see what is before you. I am sure you would have a good argument why water is not water and why air is not air. Until you can see what is before you and not what you wish to see, I feel you will always convince yourself that it is your way and could not be anything else.

How do you tell when a stock is in a uptrend,at support or at resisance....its history...gee where did that come from. Why don't most traders trade IPO's. No HISTORY.

Cool stuff Tiger. I opened a few eyes with your wisdom today. I would love to see some analysis and charts. I am going to do a search for your history; you are right on target about that.  (History and charts).

I am embarrassed to mention my military adventures. I served (Air Force) early 80's. No conflicts. The Grenada invasion was the biggest thing in my time. It was Nothing like your experience.

"The glass was never empty to begin with"

well tiger, I will have to say the glass had to be empty before any water was added. do you really believe that a glass can be manufactured with water in it.

Too much zen garbage for me.    My mind is trained to deal in proven scientific facts for my profession.

Keith, onhost:     congratulations for  the Canadian women winning gold.   Their goal tender was superb.    I guess that leaves up to the USA men to bring home the gold.   Hope your guys shot their wad beating the Russians.

Aspll, nothing to be embarrassed about, that is the path you life crossed. Opening yourself to seeing things as they are and not as to what you are programed to see, your paths become clearer.
People only see what they are brought up to see, as taught by their teachers parents and friends, Just like a computer people can be program on how to see the world. . As they say computers don't make mistakes the people using them do.

I haven't posted and analysis or charts because most members wouldn't see what I see. As proven by your own post. Rather that trying to see thru your eyes what you have posted and what you see, others attack from what they can only see thru their programing.

Just like the glass...amg says " I will have to say the glass had to be empty before any water was added. do you really believe that a glass can be manufactured with water in it." Look at the what I said about the history. Was it being poured in or out. amg does not see what is before him. Instead he choses to see what he wants to see.

johnlc, Too much zen garbage for me. My mind is trained to deal in proven scientific facts for my profession.   Do you see what you just wrote.."TRAINED" Yes you are and you don't even realize it.
and I would guess your profession is an engineer. ONE MANS GARBAGE IS ANOTHER MANS TREASURE.

One last food for thought...Human is only born with the fear of falling, Hold a baby over your head and let go, he/she will reach out for you. ALL other fears are taught to us. How many fears do you have in your life. Those are what have been taught to you and what you have come to believe.

Those USA Hockey futures seem to have a lot in common with pharmaceutical stocks ...

Well it's good to have someone turn this post into a stock market forum.

One can always count on Reality and Diceman to right the ship.

Just came up a little short last nite,  sure was an exiciting game.   Here I am a Pens fan and our main man Syd scores to beat the USA.   Kind of ironic.
