My Dell desktop died today.....37 months after purchase and of course just 1 month out of warranty.
Made for a bad day.
Are any of you using an iMac?
I know Telechart only runs on the Windows operating system, but I've been told the iMacs can be configurred with Virtual Windows so that we can run Windows based programs like Telechart.
If any of you use an iMac, I'd sure like to know what your experience with it has been.
Also, if you have any suggestions for configuration etc, I'd appreciate your input.
Thanks,

survivor,
We bought an iMac and used it to demo Blocks and TeleChart at our trade show booth. Ran Windows using Parallels Desktop for Mac and it ran great. I'll see if I can track down the exact specs on the machine we bought.

That sucks.. sorry to hear that. By dead you mean actually dead.. or not worth recovering?
A few months ago when I was winning on everything I touched I looked at some IMacs... nearly left with one. thank god I didn't. I'm shure they are great computers but I hit my bigest loosing streak ever shortly there after.
I've heard allot fo great stuff aout them.. i'd like to know if you get one and how it goes.

I don't think the hard drive died. I just can't boot up the computer. The fan begins running so loud it sounds like it's about to explode.
I'm seeking a second opinion on the problem.
My son just got an Apple laptop and loves it.
He tells me he'll never return to the Windows based operating system again because it's just not as stable as the Apple.

I'm running a MacBookPro and VMWare Fusion. I tried Parallels, but I don't think it's anywhere as functional as VMWare Fusion. I really like it. Telechart runs great on it. There are several different view settings that can be used. With single window mode, a person can shift Mac windows and MS windows all like they are on the same OS, pretty cool stuff. I think a lot of people still don't know what VMware can do. I know I didn't until about 5 months ago. I don't know about playing games, but the Windows virtual machine does great for Telechart, MS Word and the standard programs. I have a feeeling games would be OK, since I can' t tell a big difference between using Windows with VMware or how it is with a PC.
I could go on and on about my how much I enjoy my Apple notebook, but it's probably nothing different than what's already out there. I know Apple is in it to make money, but I think Jobs truly wants happy customers, for his own personal satisfaction. Jobs has the techie mindset, while Gates is more of a corporate hack mindset.
I don't think Gates gives a crap as long as he gets the money. I guess I want know until a few years down the road, but I've used PCs enough to know I can't get taken advantage of much more than what gates does if MS is the primary OS.

That Microsoft lacks creativity is axiomatic. From its very roots when they purchased DOS from Seattle Computer they have always imitated rather than created. Apple copies as well -- from Xerox, Unix, et al -- but they do it with character and tend to be much more creative in the process. I run Windows & will reinstall Linux on my machines shortly. I'd love to run System 10 were it legally available.
as always,

My experience with Dell was about the same, just past warrenty, it took a dump. there help source was in India, that didn't work out at all. took an adult class on building a personal computer. the instructor used pc club for the parts. it was interesting and I have built 3 others. I keep a spare. they didn't understand more monitors, but you can buy the card and cables on the internet. you save a few bucks. for 98 $s they will put it togather. price probably depends your area.

Hey Guys - I checked out the 24" iMac yesterday at a local store......wow, is that puppy impressive!!
The Mac OS architecture is a zillion years ahead of MS XP. And Vista is a disaster according to everyone I've talked to.
I will probably go with 2GB SDRAM on this iMac, would prefer 4GB but that's an extra $400. Ouch!
StockGuy - how much SDRAM was on the iMac you used for Telechart and Blocks at the trade show?
I will also go with the VMware Fusion software vs Parallels just like you say EHunt.......appears to be a better product.
I just have to decide which Windows XP OS to go with, Home Edition or Professional Edition. Do any of you have any suggestions here?
It would be great if Telechart. TCNet and Blocks could run direcly on the Mac X OS instead of having to use that archaic Windows architecture.
How about that Worden Brothers, has your development team decided to move to the Max OS yet?

I bought a 24" iMac back in Nov 07 and have been running Telechart Platinum and Tradestation on Xp running through Parallels. Runs flawlessly. Previously was running both on predecessor to PowerMac through Bootcamp for over 1 1/2 years - no problems whatsoever. Currently also have option to run Xp through bootcamp, but really no need to. I have tried to use Blocks 3.0, but I notice some significant lag when all three running - Telechart, Tradestation and Blocks.
Buy the iMac, it is a great machine.
