I am preparing to upgrade to Vista and I will be doing a "clean install", that is I am completely erasing all data on my hard drive before installing Vista.

I did a backup by exporting to a floppy disk. It created a file on the disk called 02-10-2007.tcr. Will this restore my notes and my pcf's?

Yes, from that file you will be able to restore your notes, EasyScans, WatchLists, chart templates and PCFs.

ak437,
TeleChart 2007 carries the Common Stocks on the NYSE, Nasdaq and AMEX as well as a variety of indexes (including numerous Exchange Traded Funds). It does not currently carry currencies, options, commodities, BB Stocks, OTC Stocks or non-US Stocks.

I've just purchased a new computer with Windows Vista. Telechart 2007 appeared to install just fine. Unfortunately, now it CONTINUES to install just fine. Every time I launch the application it advises me that it is finishing the installation, which takes between 5 and 10 minutes. I've checked the compatibility box to match XP, with impact.

Is anyone else having this issue, and do you have any suggestions on how I can get the application to recognize that it really is installed?

Thanks for any assistance,

Chris

cjbooze - I just purchased a new laptop with Windows Vista and have installed Telecharts 2007 and I am having the same problem as you described. This is a third attempt to install the program for me. The first time I installed it the program seemed to work ok but I could not delete watchlists or trendlines. If I try to they disappear from the screen and then return. I read some of the other posts and thouht it might be caused from installing TC 2007 without having first right clicked the Internet Explorer icon and selecting "Run as Administrator." That does not seem to be my problem. Even after doing the right click then install I still have the same problem with the watchlists and trendlines. Now I also have the additional (and very frustrating,)problem of the finalizing installation each time I open the program. I'll have to make certain I open the program at least 15-30 minutes before the market opens in the morning or I will miss the open because it takes so long for the program to finish installing and loading.

cjbooze, Talisman,

Delete all files from the ..\Program Files\TeleChart\User\Data\PriceInst folder. Files in that folder are not getting deleted by the installation program for some reason in Vista. When the program starts, it sees those files and reinstalls the data. If you delete all of the files from that folder the program will startup normally.

StockGuy,

Deleting those files worked like a charm. Thanks very much for the direction!

StockGuy,

Thanks. How about the Watchlist and trendline problems? Is there a fix to allow me to delete watchlists and trendlines? For some reason I am unable to delete these items within the program. When I empty and delete any watchlist it returns with all the stocks that were in the watchlist prior to the delete.

Your help is appreciated.

Thanks again,

Tom

Talisman,
The User Access Control feature of Windows Vista may cause some issues if TeleChart is not started using the Run as Administrator option. To set TeleChart to always have Adminsitrator rights:

1. Open My Computer using the Desktop icon or by clicking the Windows Start button and selecting it from the menu

2. Open Local Disk C: (or the drive where the program was installed)

3. Open the folder Program Files

4. Open the folder TeleChart

5. Right-click the file TeleChart and select Properties

6. Click the Compatibility tab

7. Check Run as Administrator

8. Click OK

If this does not resolve the issue, please contact technical support.

All e-mail communication sent to support@worden.com during business hours (Monday through Friday 9AM-11PM and Saturday and Sunday 9AM-3PM ET) should be answered within 20 minutes of arrival. For an even quicker response to tech support questions, we recommend calling our voice line at (919) 408-0542 (there is no phone support on Sundays, some Market Holidays or after 9PM ET on weekdays).

Talisman,
Unfortunately, the solution I would have pretty much echoes what this topic is about (but goes into more detail):

An upgrade for TeleChart has been released to enable the Chat feature for users on Windows Vista computers. On TeleChart's menu bar, click Help and select About TeleChart. If your version is lower than 6.0.0053, follow the instructions below to upgrade the program:

1. Close TeleChart
2. Go to http://www.worden.com/telechartrepair (Click the link or type it in your web-browser's address bar)

Note: When using Internet Explorer on Windows Vista, right-click the IE icon and select ‘Run as Administrator’ to open the browser.

If you use Internet Explorer you may need to enable the Active X component of the installation. There will be a highlighted section just beneath the web browser’s address bar indicating if a blocked Active X component needs to be installed. Click this bar and install the Active X component. The button that says 'Please Wait' should change to 'Install'.

If you use a web browser other than Internet Explorer or can not get the install to work, use the link found in the sentence ‘If you are having trouble with the web install click here to download the install to your machine.’ at the bottom of the TeleChart Upgrade web page.

3. When the InstallShield Wizard begins, select Repair and follow the prompts

If you are running TeleChart 6.0.0053 or higher, simply closing and reopening TeleChart or rebooting the computer may correct this issue.

Other possible solutions include:

1. Click on the Hammer icon in the lower lefthand corner of the chat section. Click the Ignore tab. Make sure it is set to 'Only those listed'.
2. On TeleChart's menu bar click Tools and select System Settings. Click the Update tab. Make sure that 'Attempt to connect to TeleChart servers at startup' is checked.
3. Disable or reconfigure firewall software. Chat uses port 81 and comes from chat.stockscope.com.
4. Disable any internet acceleration programs.
5. Some fingerprint scanners for portable computers interfere with the TeleChart chat login and must be disabled or reconfigured.
6. Some wireless and satellite services may have connectivity or latency issues that prevent a stable chat session. If possible, try a different internet connection.

If this does not resolve the issue, please contact technical support.

Should everyone apply the 6.0.0053 patch or only if you're on Win Vista?

dcostello,
You do not need to apply the patch if you are not running Windows Vista.

I'm running Vista and when I view BTJ on a monthly chart (10 years of data) moneystream is shown at an all-time historical low.......BTJ has had a recent pullback of 45% but an all-time low in moneystream seems impossible. Vista glitch?

mrmills,
I too am showing a all time low for MoneyStream on BTJ. I don't think it is a Vista glitch.

If you look at the scale of recent price and volume figures over the last year to a year and a half or so compared to previous values, I think you may see why the scale of recent changes in MoneyStream are so dramatic in comparison.

You may wish to review the following:

Basic Info on BOP, TSV and MoneyStream

Hi:

I have purchased a new laptop and it came with windows vista business edition. I installed telechart 2005 on it. There was no problem with installation or importing other data from my previous telechart installation.

When I update te price data it takes too long. Its taking me almost 2 hours to update daily prices.

Please help.
