I've seen Gaps defined a variety of ways:

Gap Up Current Low vs Previous High:

L > H1

Gap Up Current Open vs Previous High:

O > H1

Gap Up Current Low vs Previous Close:

L > C1

Gap Up Current Open vs Previous Close:

O > C1

Gap Down Current High vs Previous Low:

H < L1

Gap Down Current Open vs Previous Low:

O < L1

Gap Down Current High vs Previous Close:

H < C1

Gap Down Current Open vs Previous Close:

O < C1

All of the above Personal Criteria Formula can be run as soon as data becomes available for the current day and used as EasyScan Conditions or Sorts (shortly after 9:50 AM ET each day).
