Hi Training,

Thanks in advance for your help!

The following is the criteria for the formation I'm looking for for a High Tight Flag pattern:

1. a continuation of prevailing uptrend
2. price has doubled in two months or less
3. flag of pattern occurs over 3-5 weeks(or less) and price drifts down no more than 20% in the flag
4. during flag timeframe volumn drops off
5. Flag occurs near recent new 52 week high

Appreciate your help and am using the other ones you have helped me with before.

Thank you.

Please create the following PCFs:

2-month high as percent of low
100*MAXH42/MINL42

Price direction 2-months
100*(AVGH21+AVGL21)/(AVGH21.21+AVGL21.21)

Price direction 3-weeks
100*(AVGH7+AVGL7)/(AVGH7.8+AVGL7.8)

3-week high as percent of low
100*MAXH15/MINL15

Volume direction 3-weeks
100*AVGV7/AVGV7.8

3-week high as % of 52-week High
100*MAXH15/MAXH250

Once you create and calculate the above PCFs, please build the following EasyScan

WatchList (ALL STOCKS)
Price Per Share (limit based on your trading)
Volume 90-day (limit based on your trading)
2-month high as percent of low (VALUE: 200 to MAX)
Price direction 2-months (VALUE: 101 to MAX)
Price direction 3-weeks (VALUE: MIN to 99)
3-week high as percent of low (VALUE: MIN to 120)
Volume direction 3-weeks (VALUE: MIN to 99)
3-week high as % of 52-week High (VALUE: 90 to MAX)

Save your EasyScan and enjoy the resulting WatchList of stocks that fit your conditions.

Hi Craig,

Thank you for the "High Tight Flag" PCFs for the Easyscan yesterday.

Were you able find any results in it? I didn't get it to work correctly.

When I set up the EasyScan using Condition Type "Value" it only would show "Rank" info in the "Edit Conditions" window of the Easyscan. Displays in Value column either Min to 0 or 0 to Max for the PCFs. Any suggestion whats incorrect? I used the settings you gave but they wouldn't display in "Edit Condition" window those values I entered .

Thank you !

I just created each of the PCFs and calculated them based on today's close.

If your PCFs are not showing values and ranks on either side of the range selector you need to delete the PCF and create and calculate it again. All the PCFs above produce values.

Here is the scan I built. I had to loosen things up a bit to get a decent number of stocks. Your requirements above are pretty tight... especially the price needing to double in 2 months.

WatchList: ALL STOCKS
Price Per Share: Value - 5.1 to MAX
Volume 90-day: Value - 226.9444 to MAX
2-month high as percent of low: Value - 139.73 to MAX
Price direction 2-months: Value - 101.11 to MAX
Price direction 3-weeks: Value - MIN to 99.96
3-week high as percent of low: Value - Min to 120.53
Volume direction 3-weeks: Value - MIN to 98.92
3-week high as % of 52-week High: Value 68.89 to MAX

I saved and sorted the 13 stocks found by the PCF "3-week high as % of 52-week High"

The pattern you are looking for is pretty rare but I did find some nice stocks:

GSTL
TSRA
AKAM (nice little flag forming here)
TNT

Make sure you watch both videos I linked above before trying to do this.

Need help creating a high tight flag scan.

I tried this one but the PCF will only save as indicator formulas (since it does not return a boolean result).

Please help

Thanks in advance

Yes, they save as Indicator Formulas. You can use an Indicator Formula in an EasyScan as an EasyScan and set the EasyScan Condition to check for the values you want.

We can use the EasyScan Settings suggested by Craig to create Condition Formulas instead if you really want:

2-month high as percent of low

100 * MAXH42 / MINL42 >= 200

Price direction 2-months
100 * (AVGH21 + AVGL21) / (AVGH21.21 + AVGL21.21) >= 101

Price direction 3-weeks
100 * (AVGH7 + AVGL7) / (AVGH7.8 + AVGL7.8) <= 99

3-week high as percent of low
100 * MAXH15 / MINL15 <= 120

Volume direction 3-weeks
100 * AVGV7 / AVGV7.8 <= 99

3-week high as % of 52-week High
100 * MAXH15 / MAXH250 >= 90
