Topic: Uptrending Stocks - Scan Ideas
Posted: Monday, March 27, 2017 3:16:41 AM

Fellow Worderner's and Bruce,

I was wondering if there are any particular scans you use to find uptrending stocks. My minimal criteria of filtering stocks are as follows:

Average Day Range (20 Periods) > 3.5%

Average Volume (62 Periods) > 100000

Price between $0.2 and $30.00

Exchange: AMEX, Nasdaq and NYSE

Captilization > 40

I have a (bad) habit of trying to find the bottom, it works many times but now I invest a large amount of savings so I want to play it safe. I managed to find the bottom with the likes of CARA, HIIQ (at $3.80), CWEI (bottom at $6.65 and ran to $140, amazing homerun that was) and more. But also made some bad trades.

If you have a look at the tickers GLF, ADPT, VRX, VNCE, CXRX, CIE, TDW -- these have all downtrending. I want to invest in opposite of these stocks, these are my typical candidates when I try to find the bottom. Very risky stocks. I'm not a bear and I don't short-sell stocks.

I would like to find uptrending stocks like CWEI (ran last year from $6.5 to $100+), CARA, CGIX, AMD, IMMU, IMGN, EVRI, INAP, etc...

Please can you provide PCF for following formulas:

1) Stocks that are currently in an upward trend (like FUEL, IDRA, CGIX, PNRA)

2) Stocks that are upward trending but are currently having a pullback (like CARA some periods ago)

3) Stocks that have hit a bottom (some periods ago) and are now uptrending (look at IMGN, it shot up and moved sideways; again it shot up and now its moving sideways, I feel another spike is coming). Main thing im looking for is that the continuous 52W bottoms is over, (yes one can never be sure). Other tickers, that have bottomed and uptrending are ATNM and IDRA.

4) Find stocks that gain +/- 30% (i.e. swing) multiple times in a period of 3 months, i.e. look at NE, AGEN, CBK, KERX. These typically dont make new 52W highs or lows, but trade in some range.

Hope this helps others.

Topic: Unable to receive alerts
Posted: Friday, March 10, 2017 7:03:54 PM

Hi

I've never used alerts on tc2000 and today I tried to setup an alert but it didn't fire. I sent a test message on the alert panel and I received it. However when I created an actual alert I didn't receive an email.

I have a couple of questions

Are alerts only operational during market hours?

Do I need to keep tc2000 software open to receive alerts?

My test alert didn't fire, bear in mind I tested after the markets had closed but tc2000 was open.

Alert condition

Microsoft msft price above 1.

This condition is always true as Microsoft is trading above 30 dollars.

Also, I'm a gold user.

Topic: Version 17 - X Bars Ago as an indicator (Feature Request)
Posted: Tuesday, February 7, 2017 7:10:35 AM

Bruce,

Long formulas are not managable and are often messy. I spent the entire weeklend last week changing my formulas from V16 to V17 shorter versions.

The ability to allow C(x) or Cx to use the value returned from a function would be great.

It'd be great if it can be implemented, it would help me and many others.

Having said that, thanks for help.

Topic: Version 17 - X Bars Ago as an indicator (Feature Request)

Bruce,

I'm trying to extend this formula further and want to use it in another column to tell me the change in % since the crossover.

this is the formula i'm using:

IIF(C <= AVGC50, -1, TrueInRow(C > AVGC50, 50))

I'm using this formula to calculate change since the crossover
((C - Cx) / Cx ) * 100

My understanding that Cx or C(x) returns the price closing price at period x.

My formula becomes becomes

((C - C(IIF(C <= AVGC50, -1, TrueInRow(C > AVGC50, 50))) / IIF(C <= AVGC50, -1, TrueInRow(C > AVGC50, 50))) * 100

However, its not working as expected, because it multiplies the price with the value returned from function, i.e.

it becomes like below for example:

(65 - 60(50) / 60(50)) * 100

Please help, i need to know the change % since the crossover, how do i do it?

I had the same issue in V16, it appears to be a bug.

Back in 2016, I was using Moving Linear Regression 16 periods crossing up 2 Period Simple Moving Average Linear Regression 16, it didnt work. It looks like its still not fixed.

Wow this is amazing, the reduction in length of formulas in V17 is mind boggling.

Thanks Bruce
