Topic: Forumula for yesterday's %b and yesterday's ATR

QUOTE (Bruce_L)

We would need to know all of the settings of the %b and ATR to be able to help you create an Indicator Formula for the value of the previous bar.

That said, you can add a 1-Period Simple Moving Average with an Offset of 1 to either indicator and then click on the Moving Average and select Show Values in WatchList to display the value for the previous bar as a WatchList Column without knowing the settings.

I would like to have them configuratable. Once I have the basic script, I can modify and create 3-4 version of it for different periods.  To keep it simple, let try 12,2 for %b and 12 for ATR.

Thanks.

Topic: Initial Impressions
Posted: Saturday, June 16, 2012 9:57:15 PM

Was familiarizing myself with TC2000 Gold for about a week. Impressed with itsGUI and scanning capabilities, upgraded to Platinum yesterday with the idea of relaysing eSignal. After using it for sevaral hours today, I have mixed feelings about the product. It is excellent in certain aspects and amateurish in others.

It is a good tool but not matured yet by any means. Here are some of the gripes and acdolades, FWIW. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Gripes first:

  1. When I first tried the web edition, I was expecting the installed application to have lot more capabilities and features. Unfortunately installed application not a big step up from the web app.
  2. It cannot take advantage of multi-monitor environment due the lack of floating windows.
  3. In multitime frame charts, cross hair is not tracked in all symbol-linked charts simultaneously. I had to visually relate the prior times in the charts. I big drawback IMO.
  4. No vertical scaling (zooming in) capabilities beyond the displayed H/L range. This is very important when monitoring high volatile stocks in accumulation phase.
  5. No panning capabilities of the chart window into the past beyond the pre-set time limit for the chosen timeframe. Severely limits the backword examination.
  6. No procedural language interface. PCX is good for developing quick and simple conditions, but it gets too complicated and error-prone for writing scalable conditions.
  7. No third party studies (due to lack of procedural language).
  8. Android version of TC2000 is a pretty toy. Not really of much use, yet.
  9. No broker partners other than TD Am hence it cannot be used as a trading platform.
  10. No persistant crosshair.
  11. Scalable horizontal scrollbar is fance, but it more cumbersome to use than the standard swiping across scales and/or dragging the chart. A classical case of UI design overdone IMO.

Accolades:

  1. Excellent scanning capabilities.
  2. Excellent alert capabilities
  3. Cloud based alerts is a winner.
  4. Graphics are wonderful.

Summary:

Due to points 4 and 5 in the gripes list, I am finding myself going back to eSignal when I need a large lookback period.

TC2000 gives me some features which are not available on other charting software, but it cannot replace the eSignal I am using for technical analysis.

BTW, I am a fairly new trader. My exposure to trading software is fairly limited.

New user here. Going thru' this forum, I am a little confused about the backtesting functionality in v12.2.

Can someone clarify if TC2000 v12.2 has backtesting functionality and if it does, how to do it?

Can you add a request for floating windows, especially chart windows?
