Was familiarizing myself with TC2000 Gold for about a week. Impressed with itsGUI and scanning capabilities, upgraded to Platinum yesterday with the idea of relaysing eSignal. After using it for sevaral hours today, I have mixed feelings about the product. It is excellent in certain aspects and amateurish in others.
It is a good tool but not matured yet by any means. Here are some of the gripes and acdolades, FWIW. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Gripes first:
-
When I first tried the web edition, I was expecting the installed application to have lot more capabilities and features. Unfortunately installed application not a big step up from the web app.
-
It cannot take advantage of multi-monitor environment due the lack of floating windows.
-
In multitime frame charts, cross hair is not tracked in all symbol-linked charts simultaneously. I had to visually relate the prior times in the charts. I big drawback IMO.
-
No vertical scaling (zooming in) capabilities beyond the displayed H/L range. This is very important when monitoring high volatile stocks in accumulation phase.
-
No panning capabilities of the chart window into the past beyond the pre-set time limit for the chosen timeframe. Severely limits the backword examination.
-
No procedural language interface. PCX is good for developing quick and simple conditions, but it gets too complicated and error-prone for writing scalable conditions.
-
No third party studies (due to lack of procedural language).
-
Android version of TC2000 is a pretty toy. Not really of much use, yet.
-
No broker partners other than TD Am hence it cannot be used as a trading platform.
-
No persistant crosshair.
-
Scalable horizontal scrollbar is fance, but it more cumbersome to use than the standard swiping across scales and/or dragging the chart. A classical case of UI design overdone IMO.
Accolades:
-
Excellent scanning capabilities.
-
Excellent alert capabilities
-
Cloud based alerts is a winner.
-
Graphics are wonderful.
Summary:
Due to points 4 and 5 in the gripes list, I am finding myself going back to eSignal when I need a large lookback period.
TC2000 gives me some features which are not available on other charting software, but it cannot replace the eSignal I am using for technical analysis.
BTW, I am a fairly new trader. My exposure to trading software is fairly limited.
