USU is a stock that I like very much and might decide to use this one as Monday’s stock pick. If so then I will just add to this thread.

The reason why no indicators is that I just use them to find my charts but for trading them I am trying to get comfortable with out relying on them (they let me down to often). A volume surge scan brought this one to me a couple weeks ago and I have watched it consolidate since then. The regular indicators look good like TSV, Money Stream and so on.

Price has breached the upper trend line of resistance and has respected this level ever since. I will wait for the inevitable break-out on this one way or the other. I find this pattern to work out in most cases but do not bet the farm of course.

Wow, The Markets are selling off big time....

I just want to share another chart with you. The ticker is ZQK

I am only showing this chart as an example of how powerful this pattern can be. One clue that I look for is right after price breaches the upper trend-line then it lingers around for a few days right in close proximity to the Resistance now support level before heading North.

Do you think that PTSI fits this profile as well?

Good morning Tim.

I do not see a triangle pattern for PTSI, maybe I am missing it. Perhaps if you post a chart I will more clearly see it. Also I would be a little worried about the extreamly low volume pattern. this stock is not optionable and is not very liquid. On the plus side for this stock is that it has very low debt to equity ratio. Also it has high institutional support.

I do like the price pattern; the way that it keeps building higher and higher levels. you can see this formation if you zoom out on the weekly chart as well. Darva would have loved this chart.

Another possible for next week is MPG this chart is a beauty.

On the weekly charts it just does not get much better than this. Intermediate stochastic is already building higher peaks. Price is making higher swing lows and it looks like we might see a new high very soon. Volume is increasing with each new bar. If I were writing a book on charts then this one would be on page 1).

I was able to pick up a few positions today in the last hour of trading. The markets were all over the place today.

Apsll thanks for your reply.  I think I will still wait and watch a little bit before posting any of my own charts.

I did buy into USU near its low for a day trade yesterday after putting it on my watch list because of your post and made a nice small return.  Actually it turned into an overnight trade because I got stuck doing something at work most of the day after I bought in but that turned out in my favor during the little spike early this morning.

Thanks for posting your charts!

You are welcome Tim Please post your charts and we can all share your analysis. I hope that you are still in for this nice ride. Make sure to use your trailing stops.

WW; I like your blog site also. I do not know where else to ask this so - How do you post multiple charts and text to the left or right of the charts. I know that you can move the charts up or down but the sideways part has me stumpt... Lastly do I have your permision to creat links to your site from mine? Thanks for any help....

USU busted its move today.

It did well in the after hours trading session and that good fortune has carried over into the regular hours. Gotta Love Those Triangles... I have not heard from Bcraig in some time. Him and I used to work on these together.

I actually jumped out of this one the morning after when it hit 5.40.  Hasn't done much since then but actually looks like it really may be consolidating now and maybe setting a higher high although volume and TSV don't look all that great.

What do you think?

How are you Tim? Congrats on taking profits.

To answer your question I think that it would all depend on when you entered this one. I am currently studying some material on better ways to enter early. If one had entered this say back in February as price was making higher lows and has already taken half their position off the table in profit, then they could put a trailing stop in and let the stock tell them when to exit.

I still like the upside potential on this one. It is above all the moving averages. If I had to pick one flaw it would be that there is a divergence in momentum. This divergence only shows up on the daily charts and not on the more important Weekly.

So I would rate this a "Hold"

FLUFF  indie news:

A Wall Street Journal report indicates that Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT - News) founder Bill Gates could be dipping his toe into nuclear investing via start-up TerraPower.

Back in October of 2008, billionaire Warren Buffett shocked the investment world with a strikingly uncharacteristic, seemingly speculative investment in Chinese electric car and battery company BYD (OTC: BYDDF - News). Today The Wall Street Journal notes that Buffett's buddy Gates, one of the few to be richer than the Berkshire (NYSE: BRK-A - News, BRK-B - News) chief, could be backing his way into a bet on nuclear energy.

Investors have eyed components of the Nuclear Stocks Index since President Obama touted the sector's prospects in his State of the Union address in January, but the volatile segment has yet to be legitimized by a noteworthy investment from the upper echelons of the asset management world. Granted, Gates is no Buffett, but many investors still take interest in the top U.S.-listed holdings of his charitable Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Gates is not (to our knowledge) planning a nuclear investment - rather, a company he's already invested in via his stake in venture fund Intellectual Ventures is talking up the promise of its nuclear technology. The company, called TerraPower, caught the eye of Seattle's TechFlash in February, which noted its potential niche in the nuclear segment. Today's commercial reactors, the report explains, run on a type of processed uranium, which during its enrichment process creates depleted uranium as a byproduct. TerraPower wants to make use of this depleted uranium as fuel, thus utilizing a bountiful resource and helping dispose of waste simultaneously.

As a whole, the Uranium Stocks Index has cooled off after Obama perked up traders' interest with nuclear optimism. USEC (NYSE: USU - News), Uranerz Energy (AMEX: URZ - News), and Denison Mines (AMEX: DNN - News) have held on to gains of more than 20% over the past three months, but laggards Cameco (NYSE: CCJ - News) and Uranium Resources (NASDAQ: URRE - News) have slipped by double-digits for the period.

It will be interesting to see if any hedge fund managers or other notable names in the investment community are adding nuclear or uranium stakes during the first quarter of 2010. The next 13F filings are due 45 days from the end of the end of March, and investors can track the top reported holdings of nearly 3,000 Pro investors at tickerspy.com.
