I use the above chart and wanted to read the post where it came from but when I paste it into my browser I get the main discussion page - How can I find the post - Yes I have tried searching post 22558 but get no hits.
What I really wanted was to find out more about the MFI (Market Facilitation Index) that is used in teh chart. In William's books he has the MFI as colored one of 4 colors depending upon the volume and price movement.

Bruce, Thanks for the link but could not find anything on the MFI. I would like to color it as follows ...
Mfi colors -
NOTE data to color bars is ONE day back (no more)
Volume UP and MFI UP = green bar
Volume DOWN and MFI DOWN = grey bar
Volume DOWN and MFI UP = red bar
Volume UP and MFI DOWN = blue bar
Also while I am at it I have many rules on my screen and on my laptop they go off the page (smaller screen) - is there a way to scroll them or still use the rules but not have them on the screen?
thanks
Ash

I do not know of a way to not have the Rules on the screen, but if you select Show/Hide Rule Palette, you should be able to display them vertically in a window.
I've added your coloring to the Bill Williams Chart. You should be able to Open the attached Chart directly into a running copy of StockFinder. If you right-click on the Market Facilitation Index, you should be able to select Edit Colors | Edit (to the right of where Paint Indicator using RealCode is checked) to view the RealCode used to Paint the MFI.Attachments: Bill_Williams.sfChart - 127 KB, downloaded 735 time(s).

thnkbigr,
You could do a web search. I really don't know how they are supposed to be interpreted and you know I couldn't tell you even if I did.
As to their calculation:
Jaw: 25-Period Exponential Moving Average of Median Price shifted 8-Bars to the right.
Teeth: 15-Period Exponential Moving Average of Median Price shifted 5-Bars to the right.
Lips: 9-Period Exponential Moving Average of Median Price shifted 3-Bars to the right.
Fractal Top: Central high with two decreasing highs is both directions.
Fractal Bottom: Central low with two increasing lows in both directions.
Awesome Oscillator: Simple raw MACD 5, 34 of Median Price.
Accelerator Decelerator Oscillator: Simple MACD Histogram 5,34,5 of Median Price.
Alligator Oscillator Top: Absolute Value of Jaw minus Teeth.
Alligator Oscillator Bottom: Negative Absolute Value of Jaw minus Lips
Market Facilitation Index: A meaningless factor multiplied by the Ratio of Range to Volume.

thnkbigr the alligator, awesome oscillator etc come from Bill Williams Trading Chaos books and tutorials.
Most people buy the book and try to recreate the system in it - most fail because ... well most fail because most traders fail.
I became a student of his in 2004. His stuff works - period.
It took me well over a year to "get it" and I still find new gems hidden in my notes.
Anyway - hope that helps
