Hi -
I'm using the following formula and it is pulling up 'true' when the price has clearly extended beyond 10% of the 50dma.
C>=AVGC50 AND C<(AVGC50*1.1)
How do I best troubleshoot this?
The value for the AVGC50 is based on price, regardless of the timeframe in view, correct?
One question that comes to mind, but does not seem to be directly related to my results -
If you update TC2005 intraday, is C from yesterday's close or the update's close?

Thanks

Check the things you find at this link to see if you can find the problem:

Things to check if your moving averages don't "seem right" or "seem to match"

If you update intraday today, C is the most recent intraday price you've downloaded. C1 is now yesterday's close.

Can you give us some tickers that are returning TRUE for you that appear to not fit the condition?

TRLG (may be due to lack of info, but why true?), ADES, TRAD, ANX, TEC, etc. I'm on the daily view.

Did you check the link? Is your moving average exponential?

The PCF you wrote above is for a simple moving average. Add an X in front of each AVG if your 50 bar moving average is plotted as exponential.

Did you go through the checklist that Doug linked?

One of the items was to check the last time you updated your PCFs. I am willing to bet you last updated your PCFs on 12/30/05

TRLG is false today. Last time it was TRUE for your condition was 12/30/05

ADES (false today, true on 12/30/05)

TRAD (false today, true on 12/30/05)

ANX (false today, true on 12/30/05)

TEC (false today, true on 12/30/05)

I am not sure if you went through the checklist Doug linked above but I am sure if you calcualte your PCFs you will find your PCF will match the chart.

The update dialogue box lost the check for some reason.

I'm glad that I realized it wasn't updating so early in the year on one of those 'can't go too wrong' sort of rallies. The update box lost the check for some reason.

Thanks for all the rapid attention!
