Hi, i've read all the books, had success paper trading, am comfortable with a system, now it's time to get a broker. I was wondering if anyone might be able to recommend a broker that has competitive commissions for UK residents trading US equities? Any thoughts? The best I seem to be able to do is about $16.

MB Trading gets nothing but 5-star from me. Direct access, $1 per trade per 100 shares up to 500 shares, then .50 extra for each 100 over 500. SUPERB and fast customer service. Also have Ameritrade account, $10.99 per trade regardless number of shares traded, reliable too but not direct access. Good luck.

Try Interactive Brokers, they are international, locally here they charge .005 per share, with 100 shs at $1, and any additional quantity will be .005, good future and option prices. Note: excellent fills, no T + 3 on cash accts, and if you don't need hand holding, excellent. If you are a newbie, forget it, there customer service leaves a lot to be desired. Good Luck
