Howdy Trainers and Telechart Gang,..

I've been running through the tutorial videos on candlestick patterns and have noticed that when I'm trying to set the value of conditions in my easyscans, it seems to be a bit of an imprecise process...

As a good example, watching the video "Scanning for "Spinning Top" Candlesticks", the "Candle - Body as % of Shadow" condition is set to a max value of 53 (53.48834). However, when I attempt to do the same, I can only select 52.50006 or 56.54207, and while the 52.5 is quite close to 53, there's almost an entire unit of value between 52.5 and 53.48.

Maybe these differences in value won't have too much of an affect on the results, but therein is my point,.. it has *some* affect.

Am I missing something (I wouldn't be surprised,.. I can miss a lot)? I imagine this goes some way to explain why some people are confused to find they have a different number of matching stocks than others? Is there a "solution" or is it just a matter of getting as close to the desired value as you can? Maybe I'm being petty

On the quest to become a successful trader,
Herb

It is a function of there being only 100 steps on the range selector. If you were to use BOOLEAN expressions (like C>O) you would eliminate this.

I like the loose nature of the methods of the video. You may end up with a few stocks in your EasyScan that don't officially fit the parameters. I like to see them. I some of them are so close and have other nice things about them that I am happy they were included. If I don't like it, I press the spacebar.

Make sense?

Makes absolute sense, and confirms the train of thought I had, being that it's better to get some results that aren't quite right than it is to miss out on some that are!

Thanks for clearing that up Craig

Cheers,
Herb

PS: I know this topic isn't necessarily the place for it, but while I've got your attention, how would I go about changing my username..? It seems it was pre-assigned when I got my TC package... is this something I can do easily, or is it a job for customer services..?

My pleasure. A quick phone call to 800.776.4940 and they would be happy to get your name changed.
