I understand the the MG Industry Averages are based on a cap. weighting derived from the square root of the market cap. Is this cap weighting figure updated on a daily, weekly or monthly basis? Also, is the Beta ranking based on a yearly or 3 year comparison against what Index (is it the S&P?)and how often is the Beta updated?

Capitalization is updated weekly on Saturday.

Beta is updated weekly as well.

This is taken from the help file:

Beta
This is a value that measures both the correlation and the volatility of a stock's movements relative to the market. A beta of one indicates that the market and the stock move up and down together at the same rate. Thus, a five percent decline in the market would ordinarily result in a 5 percent decline in the stock. A beta of 2 would suggest that a 5 percent rise in the market would result in a 10 percent rise in the price of the stock. The value is a unitless number.

Note: Beta is calculated using the preceding 36 months of data (if available). A minimum of 12 months is required or no beta value will be displayed.
