Bruce,

I love the T2107 market indicator, but ...

In addition to the NYSE it would be nice to have the following, since they're not always correlated:
  • S&P 500 Percent of Stocks above their 200-day moving average, and
  • Nasdaq 100 Percent of Stocks above their 200-day moving average
I've been mostly using TC2000 v12 Platinum these days, but I still use StockFinder 5.1 Gold occasionally, and I'm mostly interested in these indicators on a daily timeframe anyway, so if you could tell me how to create these S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 market breadth indicators in StockFinder, that should be good enough for now.

T2107 Percentage of stocks trading ABOVE their 200-day moving average

In this T2, every stock on the NYSE is represented because (except in rare cases) stocks do not trade exactly AT their 200-day moving average. This is why there is no T2 for "Percentage of stocks trading BELOW their 200-day moving average". One quick glance at the indicator on a day when it reports a value of say 21 instantly tells you that 21 % of stocks on the NYSE are trading above and 79% are trading below their 200-day price moving average.

This is very valuable information because it’s a good general indication of whether the overall market is overbought (spike up in T2107) or oversold (spike down).

This is pretty straightforward in StockFinder. Add a 200-Period Moving Average to the chart.

Working with Indicators

Create a Condition for Price being above the Moving Average.

Creating Conditions

Create a Market Indicator based on the Condition using the desired WatchList set to Percent Passing.

Bruce,

Is this possible in TC 12.2? If not, would you add this capability as a suggested improvement. Thank you.

Custom Market Indicators are not available in TC2000. Thank you for your suggestion. It has been assigned case number 7502.
