I want to write formulae for specific dates. What is the method?

Close on December 31, 2004 would be:

C'12/31/04'

Make sure to use single quotes and the mm/dd/yy date convention.

Thank you Doug. I am still not clear when I need to add a period? Also, could you give me an example of the new yearly high on a specific date. Thanks.
