hi guys,

i think we all agree that one of the main strenghts of telechart is its ability to scan any market in mere seconds to return a list of stocks according to your criteria.  Great!! Does anybody know of such a scanner/tool that can be used to scan FX.  Thanks in advance.

darcy,

like you said Telecharts strength is scanning 7,000 stocks to find the ones that meet your criteria.

The FX market only deals with a handful of major currency pairs.  There are a few more minor currency pairs, but some of these are illiquid and spotty to trade.  So in effect, there are only about 10 currency pairs you should be worried about.  Why would you need a software program to sort through only 10 items?

I am aware of a program called autochartist that spots various technical patterns over different time frames, if that's maybe what you mean...otherwise, I'm not sure what you're really asking.

Worden's Free Stock Charts  www.freestockcharts.com has a forex data feed if you want to look at pair charts.  I cannot recommend other charting packages with a forex data feed.  I know there are several.

I would think most platforms would offer something.
The question would be how difficult it was to set up.

Tradestation allowed the sorting of 200 items.
(which I'm guessing would be ok for FX)
Of course you would need to be able to set it up.

However, that wasn't very good for stocks.
Telecharts plus is the ability to sort everything.

Thanks
diceman

Hi Ben2k9,

i've heard of autochartist and it is a useful tool however it doesn't allow you to se up your own criteria and customise your scans to the level that telechart does.  It also is more geared towards intra day scans whereas i would be more of an intra day trader.  I take your point above that i probably only need to scan the majors and trade them due to the illiquid nature of  most other FX's, still it would be useful to have a tool to scan these every day.  william4567 has suggested the freestocharts.com package from Worden that includes an FX feed so I will take a look at this and see if it will suit my needs.

Thanks again,
Darcy54.

HI William 4567,

I wasn't aware that this package contained an FX feed, i've taken a quick look and it appears as though it might do the trick, thanks for letting me know.

Regards,

Darcy,

The Stockfinder 4 Webinar Archive has a few videos for Free Stock Charts forums.worden.com/Default.aspx.  There was one on Scannig and Sorting in Free Stock Charts www.worden.com/offsite.aspx in the Webinar Archive .  There is the Video Tuorial www.freestockcharts.com/videos/.  I might be able to find another link or two.
Have fun exploring.  More Later.
