Are you familiar with Range Bars?  This is a valuable feature in Trade Navigator.  Rather than plot price vs time, it plots price where each bar is the same length but represents a range of prices.  When the price moves out of that range, a new bar is added.  Is there a way to do that in StockFinder?

I'm not familiar with them. How do they differ from the Renko Charts in the Blocks Programmers topic?

There is a good article on Range Bars in the FuturesMagazine, November 2009, on page 34.

Enjoy

Hi,

Is there an option in Stockfinder 5 to set up the chart to a Range Bars ( or use Renko Chart  as explained in a tread from 2008)?

dulakovic,
StockFinder 5 does not have a built in option for this (and I still do not understand Range Charts well enough to create anything). That said, the Shared Renko Charts seem to work correctly in my copy of StockFinder 5.

Hi Bruce,

Renko charts the way you created them (with ATR and Percent settings) are the Range bars and they work perfect.  Thank you.

I tried to add Williams %R and stochastics indicator to them , but the chart gets distorted (I assume it is because indicators still work in time domain?). There is no problem adding indicators that get drawn directly on the same pane with chart (moving average, bollinger bands...) but indicators that are on the separate pane create a problem. Is it possible to overcome this problem? I am most interested in abovementioned two indicators.

Try using Stochastics of Indicator or Williams Percent R of Indicator Indicators instead of Stochastics or Williams Percent R Indicators.

I did and it works, but puts the indicator on the same pane with the chart. Makes the chart very busy. Is it possible to have the indicator on a separate pane?

That's just where it puts the Indicator initially. You can move it. Left-click on the Indicator, Drag and select New Pane when the context sensitive menu appears.
