I want to use custom index to follow my watchlist, and have following questions:

1. Can customer index chart be changed to candlestick chart, I use edit function to chang the style, but it does not work.

2. I have several watchlists, custom index will not change, while I change to another watchlist.  Can I make my custom index like MG Group, which I can watch it like an individual stock?

Thanks!

The Custom Index can be changed to the Candles, but the Custom Index itself is a Date & Number Series (Line data) and not a Date & Bar Series (Bar data). The Candlestick Plot Style reverts to a Line Plot when the underlying data is a Line.

A Custom Index will use the Active Watchlist when it is set to use the Active Watchlist and it will use the Morninstar Industry or Sub Industry of the Active Symbol when it is set to use Morningstar Main Group or Morningstar Sub Group (this is set on the first page when you create a New Custom Index and is editable when you Edit a Custom Index). If it is set to any other Watchlist, it will always use the Watchlist selected for the Custom Index and will not change when you change the Active Watchlist or Active Symbol.

Bruce, Thanks.

Does Stockfinder have a function that allow me to make my own group / sector, and relative index.  I want do this because some MG groups are so braod, and some are not accurate, which gives a misleading information.  So I prefer to make my own group / sector to follow. If yes, could you please give me a kind instruction to do it.

You can use any Watchlist you want as the basis for a Custom Index (I tried to make that clear in my previous response). You just have to choose the Watchlist you want to use when you create or Edit the Custom Index. If you need help in creating the Watchlist or Watchlists you wish to use, you may wish to review the following:

WatchList Basics

If you just bothered by the fact that the Custom Index feature Plots a Line instead of a Bar or Candlestick, you may wish to review the following:

Custom Index with open, high, low close
