Have any of you gotten into any of the Treasury Bond ETF's like AGG, IEF, SHY, TLT?  Their dividends are pretty good, 4.3% - 4.8%, better than CDs.

Other than small fluctuations in the underlying price, I don't see many drawbacks to these ETFs.

Any thoughts or comments?

Thanks,
Survivor

if yahoo is correct:

tlt is yielding 3.5%

shy 3.4%

as toppy as though charts look i'd be a little concerned prices could drop as much as 15%.

I got the % yields from Telechart.

If the prices do drop, yields will rise for a possible great buy.

What do you think funnymoney?

i'm not sure what your time horizon is, but as you can see tlt is trading well above longterm support down around 96, and has become quite volatile. as far as parking some money short term, a little too much risk and volatility to principle for me. this looks to me like the latest bubble the fed's created. i'd have to see some sort orderly decline back to longterm support, before giving it any consideration.

my 2 cents

if the market takes its final swan dive, TLT might possibly form that second peak, providing a good entry for TBT.
