I want to create a pcf for an easy scan that will detect when the closing price crosses the moving average from below the ma to above the ma...and then visa versa

The formula would depend on the Moving Average Period and Type. We can help you write the formula if you provide this information. The following topics might help you write the formula on your own:

Hi Bruce...I created one just using the examples...

C>XAVGC30  I am wanting to use this on a monthly chart...when I use it, it is not working properly...I assume there is something I need to change to utilize this with a monthly chart

C > XAVGC30 would be a Personal Criteria Formula for the Daily Price being above (not crossing up through) its own 30-Period Exponential Moving Average. You can use it directly on a Monhtly Chart using a Custom Percent True Indicator. You can Sort (but not Filter) a Watchlist using Indicator Sorts based on this Custom Percent True Indicator (with the Time Frame set to Monthly).

Visually Backtesting Specific Symbols
Sorting price and indicators by their Actual Value

It can't be used directly to evaluate Monthly Charts using a PCF because PCFs and EasyScans are always based on the twenty minute delayed Daily data. This means the PCF needs to be re-written to calculate a Monthly value based on Daily values.
