Hello
Can you give me a PCF using this formula (((OBV1 - OBV2) + (OBV2 - OBV3)+ (OBV3 - OBV4)))* 100 when it crosses above its three bar simple ma JUST now on the last bar?
Thanks for the help

Please try the following:
OBV - OBV4 > OBV3 - AVG(OBV4,3) AND OBV1.1 - OBV4.1 <= OBV3.1 - AVG(OBV4.1,3)

Hey Bruce
That PCF isn't correct. It gives me all sorts of results. I need the above obv when it is just now crossing its three bar MA.
Thanks

I've re-checked it and the Personal Criteria Formula results match the charted results on my computer. You may want to check a few things on your end.
Are your charts daily?
Are you positive about the direction of the cross?
Does your custom indicator have a Smoothing Average (besides 1) that you may not have mentioned?
If you have checked all of the above, please provide some example symbols where the PCF results do not match the chart.

Hi Bruce
Thanks for the quick response. I'm using it for intraday sorting. That doesn't make a difference, right?

It certainly does if you are using a Personal Criteria Formula. PCFs and EasyScans always use twenty-minute delayed Daily data. A PCF is not normally going to match a Real Time chart (even when using Daily RT data, let alone intraday data).
If you are using Real Time Indicator sorting. Make sure you are using the same Time Frame for the sort and the chart. You may wish to review the following for more information on using Indicator Sorts instead of PCFs:

I'm confused. I have a bunch of PCF's that I have on templates. I will put up a 10min. chart, and do a sort on one of them. The results I get are from that 10min. time frame. The results are accurate for that intraday 10min. time frame..

When you create a Custom Indicator or Custom Percent True indicator and sort your Custom Indicator, it is not a Personal Criteria Formula, it is an Indicator Sort.
I have created the formula as a Custom Percent True Indicator. The spikes match your Custom Indicator crossing up through its 3-Period Simple Moving Average in all Time Frames.
When I use Real Time Indicator Sort set to Value and a 10 Minute Time Frame on this Custom Percent True Indicator, the results match the 10-Minute Charts. But, it does not, and will not, find all of the up-crosses today when doing this. It just returns 100 for charts where there was a cross-up between the last 10-minute bar and the current 10-minute bar.

Sorry if I'm not following you. When I use it as a sort I get all kinds of results. I get picks that are under the 3 sma. I get picks that have been above the 3sma for some time.

I only get results that match the charts. If you have already checked to make sure that:
1 - Your Custom Indicator:
(((OBV1 - OBV2) + (OBV2 - OBV3)+ (OBV3 - OBV4)))* 100
Has a Smoothing Average of 1.
2 - Your Custom Percent True Indicator:
OBV - OBV4 > OBV3 - AVG(OBV4,3) AND OBV1.1 - OBV4.1 <= OBV3.1 - AVG(OBV4.1,3)
Has a Smoothing Average of 1.
3 - Your 3-Period Simple Moving Average is of the Custom Indicator.
4 - Your chart and Indicator Sort are both using the same Time Frame.
5 - Your Sort Method is Actual Value.
Please respond with your Time Frame, the Bar Date and Time (usually displayed on the chart in green) and some symbols where the chart does not match the sort results.

using 10min time frame. 13.17 is the time sort ran. no matches HMY COP NYX MLT FST

On my system:
HMY was True for the Bar and returns 100% for the Bar.
COP was False for the Bar and returs 0% for the Bar.
NYX was True for the Bar and returns 100% for the Bar.
MLT does not exist.
FST was True for the Bar and returns 100% for the Bar.
You can view the Spikes on the Custom Percent True Indicator and the Custom Indicator xUp its own SMA3 on the chart. On my system, the Custom Percent True Indicator and cross-ups match.
When I perform an Indicator Sort on a version of the Custom Percent True Indicator that has been adjusted with the appropriate Days Ago Parameters, the sort matches the chart as well.
How are you determining if the results match the chart? Are you checking for 100.00 (for True) and 0.00 (for False) in the Sort Value Column?
Some other things that might be causing the issue.
If you have more than 200 Symbols in the Watchlist, a Real Time Indicator Sort will only work on the top 200 Symbols in that Watchlist. Anything that is blank (as opposed to displaying 100.00 or 0.00, was not calculated).
If the Sort and chart are updated through different times, they will not match. Is the Sort Refresh Frequency in the Indicator Sort set to Sort Once Only or is it being calculated more frequently to keep up with the charts?

If it says 100.00 it will be at the top of the watchlist. I then look at the chart to see if its correct. HMY closed at 11.31 at 13:20 which was below the 3 SMA. COP was true for me, but was below the 3 SMA. NYX was true but it too was below the 3SMA.. I always use less then 200 symbols and I don't use the refresh frequency. You have spent enough time with me and I thank you for it.

You're welcome. One more question (you can ignore it if you would prefer to just stop):
When you look at the Custom Indicator with Moving Average and the Custom Percent True Indicator, do the spikes in the Custom Percent True Indicator match when the Custom Indicator crosses up through its Moving Average?

I'm sorry Bruce, what do you mean by spikes in the Custom Percent True Indicator?

Bruce
Do you mean having the visible checked in the settings??

Yes, you would have to have visible checked on the Custom Indicator, its Moving Average and the Custom Percent True Indicator to check this on the chart.

The spikes don't match at the cross overs.

Please check your settings to make sure they match the following:
Custom Indicator Settings
- Visible: Checked
- Center Zero Line: Doesn't matter.
- Plot using price scale: Unchecked
- Smoothing Average: 1
- Average Type: Doesn't matter.
- Indicator Formula: (((OBV1 - OBV2) + (OBV2 - OBV3)+ (OBV3 - OBV4)))* 100
Moving Average Settings
- Period: 3
- Average Type: Simple
- Shift Left: Unchecked
- Visible: Checked
- Also verify that the Moving Average is of the Custom Indicator. It should be right below the Custom Indicator and slightly indented when viewing the Editing Chart Template window.
Percent True Settings
- Visible: Checked
- Smoothing Average: 1
- Average Type: Doesn't matter.
- Boolean Formula: OBV - OBV4 > OBV3 - AVG(OBV4,3) AND OBV1.1 - OBV4.1 <= OBV3.1 - AVG(OBV4.1,3)

I have briefed one of the supervisers. I will not have talked with the agent directly, but the agent will have reviewed the forum topic. I will also be available to the agent by chat and email (and phone if necessary).
