Hello All,

I am a little confused. What is the ZZ?

Zig Zag... the cleanest, simplest indicator of all.

Kuf had it up and running in an hour after hearing about it.

And this is the finest instance of it because you can change the %value of it quickly with the quick edit.

As it is in the list of indicators it is set to 5% which is way too huge... bring it back to one and play with it. It will show you different routes through the envelope.

Also get the Travel indicator which feeds off the Zig Zag so that you know what the hell is going on.

I understand. Here is a plot that looks at the percent change in ZZ and if it is positive the color is green. It's red for negative. In other word the zigs are green and the zags are red (or vice versa)

Thank you Jared but it is disconcerting that you cannot adjust the line width and line style in the properties dialog.

How come?

Also this rolls into the next question which is how to use this to control the background color? Need 2 colors for background.

I am not sure why adding the T/F color replace block disables the ability to edit line thickness and style. I will pass this along to development. Thank you for pointing that out.

Do you mean the color of the chart background? It is controlled by a property accesible by right-clicking the chart background and clikcing "properties"

Are you asking for a way to switch the color completly or just have some portion of the chart in a different color?

The line thickness with conditional colors is a known bug.

Craig and I have been corresponding in the background Jared so this might be a bit confusing..

Yes, it would be neat to have the background to switch colors based upon reversals of the zig zag...there would be a series of bands and when you have a series of charts open to different time spans you would see the unfolding of the direction of the trends.

I suspect that this would reveal to us just as the hingecount does.. the strength of the reversal.

Architect,
It is possible to use a Channel Plot to simulate changes in the background color of a chart using T/F Color and T/F Color Replace Blocks. Please save the attached .bWorks file to the following folder:

\My Documents\Blocks Files\Workspaces

You can then open the Workspace via your FILE menu (Open Workspace then My Computer).

You can use QuickEdit to adjust the settings or view the Block Diagram.

It uses Jared's ZigZag_color change plot as input to the Background Color Channel Plot that changes the background colors.
