Realize beboywp that stocks in this price range are generally not considered good long-term investments.
Most consider them "tradable" just trying to exploit the trends and movement that is there on a short-term basis.
Your ability to determine the trend and trade it is very important.
As a general rule of thumb I don't follow these stocks. I only concern myself with them when I'm in a rule breaking mode.
You will probably do best to read all the posts here. As many others do look for these types of trades and typically explain their reasons for entry/exit.
That being said. There has been a lot of interest in CMGI recently. I like the looks of IMMU and once traded EVOL which also looks interesting.
Thanks diceman

I have started looking mroe and more at these cheap stocks.. however for the bulk of 2006 most of my proffitable year ws made trading stocks in the 20-60 range.
However for long term I think BIOtec, NANO TECH, and smoe pharma and medical.
I intend ot get into NANX and NGEN for a LONG TERM acumulated position over the next several years.
I believe that nanotech companies are working on some really cool stuff that will change almost every industry. ALTI is another on my long term radar.
DONT EXPECT imediate proffits. look back in five years or more.

Well said Diceman. Of course these small single digit stocks are the ones that can give you the most dramatic profits in a short time span, but achilles of course is that they can also burn you the fastest. Probably this group is best for daytrading or very short swings for those who are skilled at it. I've tried it in the past and usually came out on losing end to a greater percentage of the time when compared to stocks I mostly trade now above $15 and for planned longer time frames. My most recent and last stab at a sub $5 stock was CPST about a year ago...very glad I held to my stop.

I would recommend,XOMA, for both short term and long term. I have been following XOMA for more than two years, since DNA recieved the FDA clearance for Raptiva, and since then the clearance for Lucentis which appears to be a 1 billion dollar antibody. XOMA collects royalties on these two drugs and since the success of their technology has been proven more than once, they have established major relationships with other big pharma to continue on. I think this stock is extremely under valued specially since they have collected more than 10million in rolyalties for the DNA drugs, and already an additional 10 million to be added to next quarters revenue. This I see a very good short term play and long term play if that is your cup of TEA.
