Topic: Percentage of a moving average change from a moving average crossover

I need help in writing a pcf that calculates the perecentage change of a moving averages that crosses above another moving average.

The moving averages am interested in measuring the percentage change are the Xavgc8 and avgc30.

Ex, chart NDX-X. On 8/14/2014 the 8exp crossed up above the 30sma, from that point onwards I want to measure the percentage change of the 8exp moving average from that positive crossover.

I plan on having a column on a  watchlist of the NDX-X or S&P  stocks to compare the best performing stocks since their positive crossover.

I need a little help in writing a realcode rule, for an intra-day chart (15 minute chart in my case)1) Price is after making a new low (15 minute low bar), a new low for today and yesterday’s trading range. Call this the “low bar”.2) I want the rule to trigger when price (15 minute bar) is crossing up through the high of “low bar”, anytime in today’s trading range.Example stocks to look at: MELI, Tuesday 10.12.2010 The first candle (9:00 – 9:15) was lowest low candle in today and yesterday’s trading range, I want the rule to trigger when price starts to cross above $62.34 (the high of the 15 minute low bar). It would have triggered between 10:45 - 11:00am.GOLD Tuesday 10.12.2010 The second 15 minute candle (9:15 – 9:30) was lowest low candle in today and yesterday’s trading range, I want the rule to trigger when price starts to cross above $101.44 (the high of the 15 minute low bar). It would have triggered a number of times in this stocks case, between 10:00 - 10:15am, 10:15 - 10:30am, and 10:30 -10:45am each time as it crossed up through $101.44.

Bob thanks for your help. I think I may switch over from StockFinder 4 to Stockfinder 5.

I'm not sure where the "set as default" option you mentioned, is in StockFinder?

Bruce, that last Realcode works perfect, thanks.Would it be possible to modify that last Realcode to trigger when price has crossed up through the hourly 8exp moving average. Example 1The stock ICA, made a new low (lower than the day before daily candle), then when price crossed up through the 8exp on the 1-hour chart to trigger. ICA should have triggered on the second last hour of the day. Example 2On SFL it made a new lower low (lower than the day before daily candle), it wasn't till the last hour when it would have triggered as it crossed up through the 8 exp on the 1 - hour chart.

Bruce,Firstly, thanks for your help. The first Realcode rule is almost perfect. The only change I would ask you to make is for todays low to be lower (a must) than yesterdays low. I'm using this on the 1- hour chart.
