Topic: Latest TC2005 Upgrade
Posted: Tuesday, April 19, 2005 2:32:42 PM
I have not experienced any significant slowdown.
However, I have two issues with the tc2005 upgrade process.

1) After applying the upgrade dated Apr 18 2005 to my main PC, my backup PC, and my portable PC, I returned to my main PC to find that I had exceeded the logon limit. A quick phone call to Worden support unlocked my main PC access, so all was well.
Apparently _any_ use of tc2005 is considered a login, not just the downloading of market data.
I have not updated the market data on my two other machines for quite some time.
Surely applying an upgrade, or even starting the program, should not be considered a valid login or use of the program?
The free cdrom version allowed the perusing of static data as much as one wanted.

2) In my work I am concious of user accounts and privileges. Programs should be run as the least privileged user as possible. For most this is the "user" group of Windows 2000/xp.
Administrative accounts should only be used for installing and uninstalling software/hardware, I feel.
Successful application of the tc2005 upgrade requires elevating the "user" to "administrator" for the duration of the upgrade process.
Additionaly there is no warning to the user that an administrative privelege level is required, other than eventual failure of the upgrade and program.

But despite these two issues, my tc2005 experience has been remarkably good. Congrats to the programming staff.
I find tc2005 to be one of the most reliable and trouble free programs I use.
