I'm getting different data for Simple Moving Averages displayed in a PCF
Test versus that displayed by the pointer window. Try this:
- Closing prices: 11/01/05
- Ticker: DIA

1. Set up a chart with a 200 day Simple MA and a 130 day Simple MA
2. Display chart of ticker: DIA
3. Create PCF: AVGC200 > AVGC130 and then Update all PCFs
4. Press period and place vertical bar on 11/01/05 to display data in
pointer window at upper left of chart. My window displays:
130 SMA = 104.55 200 SMA = 104.47
5. Edit PCF and Test it with ticker DIA. My test shows:
130 SMA = 104.69 200 SMA = 104.97

Why the differences? I realize they are trivial, but don't understand
why. It's important to the further development of my PCFs.

Thanks in advance for your help.

The values returned by your PCF are correct and match the values on my chart.

There are a few things to check on your chart

1. Are you looking at a daily chart?
2. Is your chart showing current data or is it clipped back in time?
3. If you click the EDIT button and look at the averages, are they indented the same distance under price or are some indented more than the others?

If your averages are not indented under price AND flush-left with each other than some are averages of other averages. Delete all of the averages and add them one at a time. Be sure to hit the PLUS next to price each time so they are all averages added to price and not other averages. When you are done they should all be indented the same distance under price and flush-left with each other.
