In V4, I could develop a rule (condition) based on charts from different periods (daily/weekly) within a layout. In V5 I get a message that it can't be done. One of my favorite sorts was to look for stocks where the daily and weekly stochastics were both below 20 or above 80. Why was this feature eliminated?

I have StockFinder 4, 5 and 5.1 on my computer. You can't create a Rule or Condition based on multiple Charts in any of these (the number of ways to create a Rule or Condition based on multiple Bar Intervals or Time Frames actually increased between StockFinder 4 and 5 with the addition of the PriceData method).
Unless you mean something else, the feature was not removed from StockFinder 4 when StockFinder 5 came out, as it was not part of StockFinder 4.

To clarify, in V4 is was able to create a rule on a daily chart and a second rule on a weekly chart and move each rule to the symbol area selecting condition column for each. Two separate columns would appear and when the sort was complete, i would have result that satisfied one or the other of the rules or both. Was I immagining this?

That isn't quite the same as being able to create a Condition or Rule from more than one Chart, but no, you are not imagining the ability to have multiple Sort Columns with Prioritize Scan options (from Left to Right or by Number of Rules Passing) that was available in SF4.
I do not know why this feature was not included in StockFinder 5. You can continue to add Condition Columns from more than one Chart, but only one Column can be used as a Sort at a time.
The Sorting of scan conditions and SF5 is not a SCANNING tool, just a sorting tool. topics explain a general workaround for this, but it is not one that would work for multiple Charts. If different Bar Intervals (Time Frames) are used for each Condition, you would either need to use the PriceData method or get all of the items into the same Chart (by specifying their Bar Intervals in their Block Diagrams) if you want to Drag and Drop Charted items into the same RealCode.
