I have just tested a buy when William AD crosses X and Sell when Williams AD crosses Y. Then at the bottom I entered a trailing stop condition to "Exit all At Close" zero bars from now when 5% retracement occurs. I kept optimizing the result until the retracement was "0.2%"!!! while getting spectacular results. When I exported the data for analysis, although I STILL like the system, I am getting drawdowns up to 8% and Worst Exits up to 5% How can that be if the retracement is set at 0.2%!Look foreward to your assistance.

A Trailing Stop in BackScanner looks at where the price of the stock is now versus the highest high (for longs) or the lowest low (for shorts) of the trade.

The stop moves higher as the stock trades higher (makes new trade highs) with long trades. The stop never gets lower in price value on long trades.

The stop moves lower as the stock trades lower (makes new lows) with short trades. The stop never gets high in price value on short trades.

The Trailing Stop will only be Triggered when True if a higher Priority Rule is not also True during the same Bar (as only one Rule can be Triggered or Executed during any given Bar). So you would want to have the Trailing Stop be above all of your Entry Rules if you want to make sure it Triggers.

In addition, the Trailing Stop will not be Executed at the Trigger point. It will be Executed at the Open, High, Low, Close or midpoint of the Bar specified in the Trailing Stop Rule.

If you think the Trailing Stop isn't behaving as described, please select Help | Send Layout so technical support can take a look. Please include a description of the issue you are experiencing when sending the Layout to technical support.
