Hi!

Could you please assist me by providing the PCF formula for a Dave Landry "Bowtie" Crossover. He uses a 10 SMA, a 20 EMA, and 30 EMA. I'm only interested in crossovers
that occurred today or yesterday. (I can easily plot this on a chart but writing the
formula is far more challenging).

Thanks in advance.

Poking around on the internet, I found many references to Dave Landry's bowtie crossover technique. Most were in marketing material for Dave's materials. I was unable to find to specifics for what crossovers are required. If you could specify those for me, I can help you out with the PCF's.

are you looking for a proper uptrend order formula 10sma > 20ema > 30ema?

Is it possible for me to post a chart here from Telechart 2005? What
I'm looking for is a PCF formula that will identify crossovers of the
10SMA, 20EMA, and 30EMA that have occurred today or yesterday. The following formula, for example, identifies stocks that have crossed above within 10 days:

(C > AVGC10 AND C10 < AVGC10.10) AND (AVGC10.10 < XAVGC20.10 AND AVGC10 > XAVGC20) AND (XAVGC20.10 < XAVGC30.10 AND XAVGC20 > XAVGC30)

The "down" cross is as follows:

(C < AVGC10 AND C10 > AVGC10.10) AND (AVGC10.10 > XAVGC20.10 AND AVGC10 < XAVGC20) AND (XAVGC20.10 > XAVGC30.10 AND XAVGC20 < XAVGC30)

I merely want to modify the above formula so that it identifies crosses that have occurred today or yesterday.

My apologies for the confusion and I thank you in advance for any assistance.

Here is your modified crossup formula to find crossups that have happened today or yesterday:

(C > AVGC10 AND C2 < AVGC10.2) AND (AVGC10.2 < XAVGC20.2 AND AVGC10 > XAVGC20) AND (XAVGC20.2 < XAVGC30.2 AND XAVGC20 > XAVGC30)

And now for the crossdowns:

(C < AVGC10 AND C2 > AVGC10.2) AND (AVGC10.2 > XAVGC20.2 AND AVGC10 < XAVGC20) AND (XAVGC20.2 > XAVGC30.2 AND XAVGC20 < XAVGC30)

I interpret Dave Landry as requiring that the stacking of the MA's reverse within a four day period.

A PCF for the Bow Tie from a downtrend to an uptrend today is:

((AVGC10>XAVGC20)AND(XAVGC20>XAVGC30))
AND(((AVGC10.1<XAVGC20.1)AND(XAVGC20.1<XAVGC30.1))
OR((AVGC10.2<XAVGC20.2)AND(XAVGC20.2<XAVGC30.2))
OR((AVGC10.3<XAVGC20.3)AND(XAVGC20.3<XAVGC30.3)))

What you want is a PCF with this OR'ed with itself delayed one day.

Notice that there is no constraint placed directly on C.

Thanks,
Jim Murphy

What would the code be for a scan using the 34 EMA crossing up through the 34 SMA?

And then the 34 EMA crossing down through the 34 SMA?

Thank you.

TicTac,

Check out this video on finding any MAs crossing:
