hey guys,
any quick and easy way to make an easy scan for stocks that have become short term overextended to the up or downside for potential reversion to the mean trades?

Recent examples would be BAC and LCC on July 23..

thanks as always..

The trainers can't give setting, interpretation or investment advice. This includes defining overbought and oversold. You would need to provide an objective definition of "short term overextended to the up or downside" for us to help you create an EasyScan.

hello bruce,

for example, a stock that is up at least 2 days in a row, closed above the upper bollinger band on better than average volume and is above 70 on the RSI...

THANKS

Please try the following Personal Criteria Formula as an EasyScan Condition:

The Close Above the Upper Bollinger Band 20,20 portion of the formula is:

C > AVGC20 + 2 * SQR(ABS(C ^ 2 + C1 ^ 2 + C2 ^ 2 + C3 ^ 2 + C4 ^ 2 + C5 ^ 2 + C6 ^ 2 + C7 ^ 2 + C8 ^ 2 + C9 ^ 2 + C10 ^ 2 + C11 ^ 2 + C12 ^ 2 + C13 ^ 2 + C14 ^ 2 + C15 ^ 2 + C16 ^ 2 + C17 ^ 2 + C18 ^ 2 + C19 ^ 2 - 20 * AVGC20 ^ 2) / 19)

You would need to use the following formula instead to get Close Below the Lower Bollinger Band 20,20:

C < AVGC20 - 2 * SQR(ABS(C ^ 2 + C1 ^ 2 + C2 ^ 2 + C3 ^ 2 + C4 ^ 2 + C5 ^ 2 + C6 ^ 2 + C7 ^ 2 + C8 ^ 2 + C9 ^ 2 + C10 ^ 2 + C11 ^ 2 + C12 ^ 2 + C13 ^ 2 + C14 ^ 2 + C15 ^ 2 + C16 ^ 2 + C17 ^ 2 + C18 ^ 2 + C19 ^ 2 - 20 * AVGC20 ^ 2) / 19)

This is explained in more detail in the third topic referenced in my Thursday, August 14, 2008 3:43:46 PM ET post.
