Hi there!
Is it possible to print out the list of stocks by name and ticker symbol, that is returned after running an EasyScan? How do I do that? Thanks much, Sunlight

Yes. Once in a WatchList you want to print go to REPORTS -> Today's Prices. Once the report comes up go to REPORT and PRINT.

Craig,
I put together an EasyScan using the formulas you gave me for high of day coincident with pivot points on January 4. I used the two formuulas you told me to combine, and added some other conditions: 10-day average volume > 1 million, 5 day average volume > 1 million, 5 day average intraday range > .35. Two things happened. (1) The list seems to be compiled solely by the last criterion, average intraday range > .35. (2) When I went to reports and tried to print out the report, all menu itmems were grayed out.

Can you give me the exact formulas you are using?

How many stocks are showing up in the final WatchList?

Craig,
Here are the conditions I am using in this EasyScan.

1. YHOD coincident with Pivot Points, as you gave it to me 1/4/06: ABS(H - (((H + L + C) / 3) - (2 * ((H + L + C) / 3) - H) + (2 * ((H + L + C) / 3) - L))) <= .03 OR ABS(H - (2 * ((H + L + C) / 3) - L)) <= .03 OR ABS(H - (2 * ((H + L + C) / 3) - H)) < .03 OR ABS(H - (((H + L + C) / 3) - ((((H + L + C) / 3) - (2 * ((H + L + C) / 3) - H) + (2 * ((H + L + C) / 3) - L)) - (2 * ((H + L + C) / 3) - H)))) <= .03 OR ABS(H - ((H + L + C) / 3)) <= .03

2. 5-day average volume greater than 1 million shares: AVGV5 > 10000

3.10-day average volume > 1 million shares: AVGV10 > 10000

4. 5-day average intraday range > 35 cents: AVGH5 - AVGL5 > .35

The EasyScan with all four of these conditions returns 74 items. I am not sure I made the transition from setting up the EasyScan to a real watchlist. I can get the 74 items in the scan but not to a watchlist. Nor can I print the report. Thanks for asking.

EasyScans create a WatchList. Review this video to see what I mean: Using EasyScan to find stocks that meet your own criteria

The WatchList will have the same name as your EasyScan.

When you are in the WatchList created by your EasyScan you can click on the top menu item REPORTS then Today's Prices then REPORT and PRINT.

Carig,
I reviewed the video before setting up the EasyScan, just like you told me to. The EasyScan returns 74items. The Watchlist has zero items. Sunlight

I think you are confused about terms.

A WatchList is a collection of tickers. There are several types of WatchLists

System: These are the "big" WatchLists maintained by the program like ALL STOCKS and ALL INDEXES
Personal: These are manually created and maintained by you. Only you can add or remove symbols to this WatchList
Scan: These WatchLists are created by EasyScans. It is where you see the results or what tickers met the conditions of your EasyScan
Component: These WatchLists are maintained by TeleChart and show the tickers that make up different ETFs and indexes
Industry: These WatchLists are maintained by TeleChart and show the tickers that make up different industries/sub-industries

When you click the name of the Active WatchList you should see these categories at the top of the list of WatchLists. Click on SCANS then click the WatchList that matches the name of your EasyScan. This is your WatchList created by the EasyScan.

Can you get there? How many tickers are in this WatchList?

Craig,
thanks for suggesting the video to get me clear on the terms for different watchlists.

I can get to the EasyScan -- it now has 63 items, since I set it to select, by the 4 specified conditions, from "all stocks." Still don't see how to print them out when I go to the reports tab.

craig,
The reason why being able to print out the roster matters (besides convenience): I'm trying to make sure the scan works, since the YHOD formula is a bit complicated. In any event I use ESignal for intra day trading. The idea was to make a scan that would tell me, when yesterday's high would coincide with "pivot points" for today. I definied "coincide" as being within 3 cents of a pivot point.

We discussed this in January under the topic "high and low of day coincident with pivot points."

On my spot checks... say for CCU, which came up on the list... yesterday's high was 29.49, and the closest pivot point, R1, was 29.44 (5 cents away). The scan also pulled up NYX; yesterday's high was 60.76; the closest pivot point was the central pivot, P, at 60.46. And so on. Either there is a problem with the "Yesterday's high coincident with today's pivot point" formula, or, one of the other selection critiera in the Easy Scan is the one that is actually selecting members for the watchlist. I had similar problems yesterday when I had the analogous EasyScan for "yesterday's low coincident with pivot points." Thanks much,
Sunlight

Thanks much

Save the EasyScan... You will then be taken to the WatchList that it creates (and gives the stocks that met the condition). From there you click on Reports (very top of the program)

Craig,
List of members printed out fine. Now for the real problem... that the list doesn't seem to be scanning for members it is supposed to. Out of the first six members I pulled out (sorting by 5 day average intraday range, descending order) NYX didn't belong in the list, nor did COGN or HET. PD did belong, AD was hard to verify based on my intraday ESignal charts. In any event: 3 of first 5 didn't belong. Would you mind running the scan as I gave it and seeing what is happening? I assume you have an intraday program that calculates pivot points (standard for most intraday charting software). Thanks much

Are your PCFs calculated through the most recent download date? Click on the Fx button. Do the PCFs there have the correct updated through date based on your last download? If not, please calculate your PCFs as shown in this video: How to create a Personal Criteria Forumula (PCF)

Craig,
Good thing to check. I downloaded last night after the close. I remember calculating the PCFs as shown, but, just to make sure, I looked in "Edit EasyScan" and saw the condition, true for each of the 4 PCFs, along with a number of stocks for which the condition was true.

Good.

Now SORT the EasyScan WatchList by your pivot point criterion. Do they all show TRUE for Sort Value?

Ok.... Which stocks are showing up that you don't think are TRUE for this condition?

Craig,
Seems to be working now.(Terrific!) Question: if I were to do an update now (in the middle of the trading day) as a Gold customer.. would my data be as of yesterday's close? Or rather, as of today but on 20 minute delay?

Because, the Telechart data that generated the reports I am using now was gathered after yesterday's close. But during some of the other times we worked on this, I had updated Telechart during the trading day... and this formula requires EOD data.

If you calculate your PCFs after updating while the market is open your PCFs will be based on the 20-min delayed data.

Craig,
That would explain the errors yesterday quite nicely. Now, if I want to start work on the YLOD formula.. can I calculate the formulas without downloading price data?

I think you mean the other way around....

You can download without calculating. When you click the download button UNCHECK the Personal Criteria options before you update. You can check them when you are ready to do an EOD download tonight.

Craig,
Sorry to get into this again. Today I updated and tried to print out the list of candidates from my EasyScan. Went to reports, today's prices, and print. What prints out seems to be a set list that is different than what I am seeing, different than the names kicked out by the EasyScan. How do I fix this?
