We have successfully tested TC2000 in the past using a Mac (not sure what model or OS version) and Virtual PC, and have heard from customers who've had similar success.

I checked the Support discussion boards at www.apple.com...

http://discussions.info.apple.com/

...and couldn't find any postings about problems running TC2000 with Virtual PC. I did find several referencing Virtual PC and other Windows programs so a post here concerning TC2000 might get some feedback.

Hopefully another customer will respond to this thread and share their experience with this type of setup.

I run TC2005 in Virtual PC 7 on my 1.5 GHz PowerBook OS 10.4. It runs a little slower than on my Dad's PC laptop, but that is due to the limitations of VPC. It will only emulate as a Pentium 2 500MHz. It takes no more than 15 minutes to totally download and run any calculations that need to be done...as opposed to 5 min on the Dell. Not a big deal, though.

It sure would be nice if an OSX version were to be developed, esp. now that the Mactels are coming out next year. With the Developer Tools supplied by Apple, recompiling for the Mactel shouldn't be any hassle.

Another option, though more time consuming would be to develop a version of TC2005 in Java. That way it would be totally cross platform compatible (Win, Mac, Linux), as long as the target computer is running the latest Java Runtime Environment (JRE).

Hopeful suggestions...I know...

TeleChart does not run on the Mac OS.  You would need to use an application like Virtual PC or Parallels to run the Windows OS.

I can't remember where it is, but I've responded before to a similar question. I looked around for a while so I didn't have to run Windows as my primary OS. and finally settled on VMWare Fusion. In my opinion, it runs almost perfectly. I've never used the others but have read where Fusion is faster than the others. I didn't have much luck with Parallels. Fusions was a much easier install for me.  I'm running it on  MacBook Pro. Hope this helps.

I've been looking at iMacs for almost 2 weeks now.

The local Apple stores are using Parallels, but the newer iMac purchasers seem to all be going with Fusion.

I happened to check out MacMall this morning and see that a new, faster processor is available in the iMac .......along with price reductions on earlier models.

At the local Apple store and at MacMall they seem to be pushing parallels, wheras at  BestBuy.....the computer gurus there push Fusion.  Not sure what inter-business relationships these companies may have with each other.

I wish Telechart and Blocks would someday be configured to the Apple OS so that virtual software would not be required to run them.   But I do not believe that will happen any time in the foreseeable future.

You guys SERIOUSLY need to port TeleChart native to the Mac. Newest NPD data says that Macs now have a 66% market share in America of all PCs sold with prices over $1000. And they don't have access to Apple's internal sales data (Apple web sales & Apple brick & mortar stores). 66% of people paying over $1000 for a computer sounds like a market that you guys should going after. I would upgrade to Platinum if it were available native on the Mac. Your stubborn refusal to even discuss this is baffling.

That's not true.

It's 66% share ONLY of retail store front sales.  That excludes all direct sales, e.g. most of Dell sales, most corporate sales, all other home user direct sales (I recently purchased 2 HP PC's and I ordered direct so I could customize the build), etc.

Retail store front sales is only a fraction of total personal computer sales.

Current installed base penetration of Mac's has increased lately, but is still only at 8%.

I made the switch to an iMac 24" with 4GB SDRAM and a 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor running OS X Leopard 10.5.3.

It's amazing how Apple designed this computer, no more computer "box" sitting on the floor taking up space.  And my system is wireless so I don't have all those unsightly cables laying around everywhere.

I also added VMware Fusion 2 beta version with Windows XP in order to run the Windows based programs Telechart and Scottrade Elite.  I run everything else in Leopard.

I added another monitor and can add a total of ten if I wanted.  Kind of cool.

Telechart runs much faster on this setup than it did on my 3+ year old Dell Dimension Desktop.

Like Jim64546 said, I wish Telechart would be directly compatible with the Mac OS, but I doubt that will happen......even with all of the complaints about Windows Vista.  I believe all energies are now directed towards Blocks.

The Windows OS has become too bloated IMHO.  Leopard is a far superior OS.  The public is catching on very quickly to this.  Just stop by any Apple store and you will find it packed with people all of the time.  Kind of amazin' to me.

Survivor,
How's this Apple setup been working so far?  My Dell blew up yesterday (similar to your issue) and am considering the same Apple/Fusion rig.
Thanks

It's working out great! With the Dell, updates took about 3+ minutes. With the iMac, it takes 35 seconds! It's taken me a little time to get used to the Apple OS compared to the Windows OS only because I've been on Windows for so many years. If you go with an Apple computer and Fusion, I recommend NOT getting Windows Vista......stay with Windows XP. My only concern would be if I ever want to add more than 2 monitors.Fusion 2 beta version allows for up to 10 monitors, but I am unsure if I can add that many to my iMac. I just haven't checked into that yet as two monitors are all I need for now.If I can't add more monitors, I can always get one of those 30" Apple monitors. On that large of a monitor I could place a number of other screens. Good luck.
