Topic: 2 up arrows not better than 1

So now that I can put the arrows on the screen showing when stochastics crosses the 80/20 lines, how do I get Stockfinder to only show those stocks that have crossed? Would I apply the condition to the filter?

When I click on "Show True Markers" there are 3 inputs: arrow height, arrow width, and arrow offset. I'm pretty sure I understand height and width but what is offset?

I watched a couple of the vids about creating conditions today and decided to create my first sequence. I'm trying to find stocks that had a stochastic > 80 yesterday and stochastic < 80 today.

The first condition I created tested for stochastic > 80 passing 1 of last 2 bars. The second condition tested for stochastic < 80 passing 1 of last 1 bars. Then I put them into a sequence with stochastic > 80 followed by stochastic < 80 and made the span in bars = 2. Next I added "show true markers.

It looks like it is working but I'm getting 2 arrows instead of 1. What am I doing wrong? BTW, if there's a better way to do this I would appreciate any guidance. TIA.

First, I'm not sure if this should be a filter, condition, or real code.

I have a watchlist created in Telechart that I'd like to use as the starting point. Then I'd like to find stocks that had stochastics < 20 yesterday and stochastics > 20 today. TIA.

Topic: Number of new highs and new lows per Dr. Wish
Posted: Thursday, August 26, 2010 2:32:34 PM
I was on the webinar Tuesday night with Dr. Wish. He said part of his methodology used the number of new highs and I believe he said he got this from Telechart. I see market indicators like "new high / new low ratio" (T2117) but don't see a way to get the raw number. How did he do that? TIA.

Sorry...just realized this probably should be in another forum. :(

I was on the webinar last night where Dr. Wish spoke. His General Market Index (GMI) is based on several different numbers he said he got from Telechart such as number of new highs. I see several indexes listed that show ratios like "new highs / new low ratio" but none that show a raw number of new highs. Can you tell me where he found that information in Telechart?

Topic: How is volatility calculated?
Posted: Thursday, November 19, 2009 9:55:49 PM

I’ve noticed that one of the data sheet items I can look at for a given symbol is price volatility. Is there any documentation about how this is calculated?

It is my understanding that the "normal" way this is calculated would be to use 252 days of close and calculate a standard deviation. Is that the case here?

TIA.

Topic: Telechart to Stockfinder 101
Posted: Tuesday, May 12, 2009 11:49:31 PM

Even though I've been a Telechart user for a long time, I'm having trouble getting my hands around StockFinder. I'm watching the videos now but having trouble figuring out how to incorporate my system from Telechart.

Currently I have several PCF's set up such as last close between $10 & $350 or 60 day moving average of close >= $15. I created an EasyScan which combines a number of PCF's and it creates a watchlist called "minimum criteria". Then I can look through this watchlist to pick the stocks that have the technical characteristics I want.

From what I understand of Stockfinder, it will be much easier to do the "picking" (I think that's "rules", right?). But do I set criteria which will create a watchlist?

Topic: Learning Blocks and/or BackScanner

I was playing around with BackScanner today while watching the videos. Got any suggestions on how to learn to use them? They both seem like really good products. However, even though my background is in IT I have to admit that I'm having some trouble learning how to use them. TIA.
