How do I write a pcf, say catching stocks with an ADX > 35 and DMI > DMI with a 14 day look period? Thanks H.C. Fritz

As far as ADX, you may want to view this video. You may be able to find what you're looking for a lot easier using the technique demonstrated in the video. Click on the link to view it.

Much has been shared in these forums recently about ADX and DMI. If you click on the Search button above, type in either ADX or DMI, you'll get a list of discussion links you can click on. I think you'll find the discussions very informative, relative to what you're looking for.

So, if ADX was, say,one of four criteria, I would have to scan by the other three criteria to get a list of stocks, which would not have any ADX characteristics that I was looking for, but have all the rest. Then sort this "semi-final" list by the ADX sort method given in the video, which would identify candidates to look at. h.c. fritz

You can include the DMI cross rule as a part of your easyscan, by using the PCF provided in this URL. Or you can use info in that posting to create a sortable custom indicator for the same purpose. Be sure to read all the way thru ... the later postings in the thread provide more efficient methods that the earlier postings. DMI crossover info: http://www.worden.com/training/default.aspx?g=posts&t=671
A PCF for the DX itself, plus a simple means of using that formula in a custom indicator to duplicate the ADX line, can be found at: http://www.worden.com/training/default.aspx?g=posts&t=708
Please note that this latter formula offers the abiity to sort by the ADX values of PRIOR days (unlike the canned internal ADX plot). All you have to do is increment the days-ago values by, say, a value of 10, to reference what the ADX was ten days ago. Some people might find this useful for backtesting, or for determining ADX-related crossovers.

That's it! Without built in ADX syntax, this is a very effective way to find stocks based on ADX values.
Don't know if you've searched the forums yet for information on ADX, but you may want to check out this link. Apparently there are some sophisticated PCF's out there for ADX which you may want to try. Click on this link for more information:
