What are some of the capabilities of TC2000 that cannot be done in SF or are done much better in TC2000?
In other words, do I need to have (pay) for TC2000 if I get SF?
Is there an in depth discussion of this?

I find that the programs work together rather nicely. I really couldn't say what will work for you. What software you will want to use will depend on your particular needs. TC2000 version 12.3 is designed to incorporate the best features of TC2000 version 7 and StockFinder. It doesn't do everything from both programs however.
StockFinder and TC2000 version 7 are Windows programs which run on your computer and can display whatever historical data has been downloaded on your computer.
TC2000 version 12.3 runs on our servers and can be accessed using both a PC and a Mac. It is limited to the most recent 500 bars of data in any Time Frame, but is usually faster that StockFinder.
TC2000 version 7 has a limited number of indicators available when compared to either TC2000 version 12.3 or StockFinder.
StockFinder's RealCode is significantly more versatile than the Personal Criteria Formula Language used in TC2000. StockFinder has BackScanner. StockFinder Platinum can plot historical fundamentals.
The Daily data in StockFinder Gold is end of day only. You can download daily data in TC2000 version 7 throughout the day on a 20-minute delayed basis and get streaming data containing up to the minute trades on the BATS exchange in TC2000 version 12.3 with TC2000 Gold.
TC2000 version 12.3 has Alerts. TC2000 version 12.3 Platinum has Live Results for EasyScans.
A TC2000 Gold data subscription gives you Gold access to both TC2000 version 7 and TC2000 version 12.3.
A TC2000 Platinum data subscription gives you Platinum access to TC2000 version 7 and TC2000 version 12.3 and Gold access to StockFinder.
A StockFinder data subscription gives you Platinum access to StockFinder.

Bruce,
Thank you.
Excellent answer.
I understand that only with SF I can do backtesting. In TC2000 version 7 I can process and chart historical data but not do full backtesting. Is this correct?

TC2000 version 12.3 does not currently have backtesting available. StockFinder provides backtesting using BackScanner.

Bruce, i understand that the backtesting capabilities of stockfinder are rather limited - eg they cannot handle variable exit strategies such as a 2 ATR trailing stop of close price turning into a 2 ATR trailing stop of high price once a 2 ATR profit has been realise. Is this correct?

There is no built in way of doing something like this in BackScanner. It is theoretically possible to basically re-create the entire trading system in RealCode to create Conditions and then use those Conditions to actually enter and exit the trade, but the resulting RealCode can become very complicated very quickly. In addition, you are still limited to making trades at the open, high, low, close or midpoint of a bar.

TC2000 version 7 Platinum has streaming realtime intraday data from the consolidated tape. TC2000 version 7 Gold does not have intraday data at all and its Daily data is delayed by up to 20-minutes. Personal Criteria Formulas and EasyScans in TC2000 version 7 are based on the Daily data even if you have Platinum. You can sort on the realtime data in Platinum, but this is limited to the top 200 symbols in the WatchList.
TC2000 version 12.3 Platinum has streaming realtime intraday data from the consolidated tape. TC2000 version 12.3 Gold has streaming realtime intraday data from the BATS exchange and 15-minute delayed intraday data from the consolidated tape. You can scan using both types of data.

The only way to currently subscribe to StockFinder Gold is to subscribe to TC2000 Platinum as a StockFinder Gold data subscription is included as part of the TC2000 Platinum subscription.

Just wanted to update this post. I was just informed that Stockfinder Gold is not included with the TC2000 platiunum subscription. Would love it if backtesting was incorporated into TC2000!!!

StockFinder Gold is no longer included as part of TC2000 Platinum unless you are grandfathered in from using this feature when it was available.
Thank you for your suggestion.

That's the dealbreaker.
I thought of getting TC2000 because the UI is really good. This review claimed the StockFinder is included: http://www.liberatedstocktrader.com/top-10-best-stock-market-analysis-software-review/
I really don't want to be a cash cow, paying similar tools from the same company, and then naturally paying for data source which I already have from broker.
No integration with brokers is possible (except 1), and the mobile application is too simple.
The website is horrible, with lot of broken links, and it's not actually clear what edition has what features. StockFinder web is hidden completely, like it was being decomissioned (I 've heard so).
So in this era of new hot tools like tradingview and finviz, or even free backtesting prorealtime it's very difficult to pay massive amounts for Worden tools. Thanks for understanding.
