Is it possible to create or add indicators in Blocks on Fundamentals?

For example since blocks doesn't have the Return On Equity as one of the fundamentals can we create it by taking the stocks Annual Income and divide it by the average of its latest fiscal year and prior years shareholder equity.

The Fundamentals in Blocks are feeds with Weekly data points. You can create your own Fundamentals as long as they can be created from the existing Fundamental and technical data feeds. To divide one thing by another, use the Ratio Block. To get an average, use one of the Moving Average Blocks.

Return on Equity is not currently available for US Stocks in either TeleChart or Blocks. I do not know of a way to construct it in Blocks. While both gross and net income are available, Equity is not.

Sales ($Millions) 1-Yr - This is the sum of revenues for the last 4 quarterly reports. This is an excellent gauge of company size.

Earnings ($Millions) 1-Yr - This is the sum of the trailing 4 quarters of net income (profit) as taken from the quarterly report. This is not the earnings per share. This value will also provide some insight into company size. It reads in millions of dollars.

Return on Equity is one of the fundamental indicators that is included for Canadian Stocks in Blocks.

Hi guys,
can you create a scan in Telechart from these criterias:

A) a PEG less than or equal to 1.5,
B) a Price/Book less than 1 and
C) Price/Sales less than 1.

Thanks in advance

I attended 011808 San Jose BLocks -pre advanced released training i.e. Julie O. Did I understand Julie correctly that ZACHs Fundamentals (real time) is out now, as a data set, to be included with Blocks 3.0? Does that supplant Hemscott or run in conjuction with the Hemscott (weekly) data points, simultaneously, since maybe Hemscott would cover different fundamental data points that may differ or be in variation from that of Zachs fundamental data?Thanx, Russ

ksoong,
Only one of your three conditions is currently available:

Price to Sales Ratio - Determined by dividing current stock price by revenue per share (adjusted for stock splits). Revenue per share for the P/S ratio is determined by dividing revenue for past 12 months by number of shares outstanding.

You may wish to review the following:

Definitions of all built in scanning and sorting criteria

rAmJET,
The Hemscott and Zacks feeds cover different data. You are already familiar with the types of Fundamentals provided by Hemscott. The Zacks feed is more focused on the type of data provided by analysts (like earnings estimates and buy, sell, hold ratings).

Is there anyway we can create a condition to say buy if the Latest Profit Margin is within its let say 3 year or 5 year high?

Also would be possible for me to have a list of the fundamental data from Zacks that's available in Blocks 3 just so I know what I will have access to I am taking the class on Feb 15th?

thnkbigr,
The Zacks Financials in Blocks 3 currently contains the following:

Average Rating Recommendation
EPS Estimate Lowered
EPS Estimate Raised
EPS High Estimate
EPS Low Estimate
EPS Mean Estimate
EPS Median Estimate
EPS Number Estimate
EPS Std Dev Estimate
Number of Analysts with Hold Rating
Number of Analysts with Moderate Buy Rating
Number of Analysts with Moderate Sell Rating
Number of Analysts with Strong Buy Rating
Number of Analysts with Strong Sell Rating

The EPS Criteria have values for Cur Qtr, Cur Year, Next Qtr, Next Year.

The Studies that have already been created expand these offerings by combining some of the raw values to create Percent Buy, Hold and Sell Ratings. Other combinations based on the raw data are certainly possible.

Please download the attached .scond file to:

Once downloaded, you should be able to select Add Condition | My Computer when adding a Strategy Condition to access it.

You can use QuickEdit to adjust the settings or view the Block Diagram.

Bruce,

The settings on the indicator above is

Latest profit margin
is Above
MA or Min Max period- Maximum
Min Max Period- 156 weeks I am assuming that adds up to 3 years
Operator- Multiply by Value
Value- .90
# of bars true-1
Bars to test-1

Let me know if I am correct this looks at the maximum level of the latest profit margin of the company in the last 3 years and buys it when the latest profot margin is within 10% of the 3 year high?

thnkbigr,
That's what you requested and that was my intent when creating the Strategy Condition.
