hello, I am having an issue with a pcf in a scan. I am trying to find stocks whose price is close to or right on the 200 day MA. Here is the pcf that I am using. 100*(C/AVGC200). I set the range bar to just over the 50 mark to just undet the 50 mark. I am getting results that have the price all over the place in relation to the 200 day MA. Also, I cant get it to work using any of the 3 Condition Types" Can you help?

Thank you!

You don't want to use the right scale or any of the condition rank types. You are interested in VALUES and the left scale

Watch this video for me:

Using EasyScan to find stocks that meet your own criteria

You want to use VALUE and set to values near 100.

...as another aside, your PCF already exists as a built-in condition. I would delete it and just use the condition:

Price vs 200 day moving average

It works the same way. No need to calculate a PCF that is already in your system.

I watched the video. I now understand the condition type better. however I did what you recommeded and set the range close to 100 and it pulled stocks that were way high off the 200. The price vs. 200 was the one that was in the system...I just don't always know which one I wrote as opposed to the pre-wrote ones. Let me know what I should do next.
Thanks.

Let's get rid of any duplicates first.

Click on SORT BY (under the name of your active WatchList) and then click the Fx PCF category on the top bar of the new pulldown.

This will bring up the PCFs in your system. Delete any dealing with Price vs. 200 (using thre trash can icon on the right).

Now create a new EasyScan

Set the WatchList to ALL STOCKS.
Add Price Vs. 200 Day Moving Average
Set the condition type to VALUE.

Based on today's close you should be able to limit it to:
99.06412 to 100.8539

When I did this I found 395 stocks all within 1% of their 200day simple moving average.

Craig, I also have another question. when I put a 200 day ma on Telechart, it's off from my brokers 200 day. I checked it out against (URL Removed by Moderator)and was confirmed. Is there something that is not set correctly? I do have all set to simple 200 day.

Just let me know what you recommend. Thanks!

Go through this checklist for me to be sure you are plotting it correctly. You may have (by mistake) plotted the 200 on something other than price.

Things to check if your moving averages don't "seem right" or "seem to match"

Thanks for your help craig. I see how i was setting the range incorrectly. I was using the 50 mark as my anchor but I needed to be looking at the values on the range scale.

Yep. Remember that the left scale is your value scale, the right is your rank scale.
