Dear Sirs;
I recently purchased Renegade Solutions' Candlestick PCF's and I am having trouble getting them to work. When I test them, they say-False- market days needed to calculate criterion-2. It does not say syntax error. I put in the PCF's into the easy scan and set up the conditions that I wanted but when I go to scan, after updating all the info, nothing shows up on my personal PCF's but other scans show results. I don't know what to do next to correct the situation. Thank you in advance for your help!
Cliff

First, the PCF;s you are using sound like boolean PCF's...which simply means they include one or more logical operators such as >, <, =, AND, OR. Boolean PCF's will return one of two valid results, depending on the stock being tested. The results are TRUE and FALSE. Therefore, when you get a FALSE result when you test a PCF, it means that the PCF is fine...the formula result is simply false for the stock you are testing.

Second, make sure you are updating your PCF's for All Items in System.

Are you saying that no stocks are showing up in your EasyScan?

There is a count next to each criterion when you edit the scan. Which one is bringing the count to 0?

Dear Doug,
Thank you for your quick response, I did update for all items in system and for my PCF's.
Craig, when I run a scan, my personal PCF's are coming up "ZERO". No stocks are coming up at all, even though it shows up as updated. My PCF is for gravestone doji bears, which should up fairly frequently.
Thanks

Is Gravestone Doji Bears the only condition in your EasyScan?

Bruce,
Yes, the gravestone doji bear, scanning all items in system, along with only optionable stocks, are the only conditions.

Normally, I would ask you to post the formula at this point, but I'm not sure what your license with Renegade Solutions allows (I'm pretty sure they wouldn't be happy to have any formulas they sell posted in a public forum). I can think of a few other options to try at this point (probably in the preferred order):

1. Contact Renegade Solutions' support.
2. Manually recreate both the PCFs and EasyScans (you should be able to Copy and Paste between Editing Formula windows).
3. Email the formulas to my attention at support@worden.com so I can take a look and see if they work on my system (I'll get rid of them once the issue is resolved).

Hello,
We are going for dark cloud cover scan for our PW:
On the new PCF we entered the following;
1.Close as % of Open 1 day ago (100.01 to MAX)gave us correct in number form.
2.Body as % of candle 1 day ago (50 to max) gave us #'s.
3. Range 1 day ago as % of Average (100.01 to max) gave us in # form.
4. Close as % of Open (min to 99.9) gave #'s.
5. It says Bottom of body today --there isn't one!??
6. Top of Body---there isn't one!??that we see to choose from.
Now what?
We rewatched all of the videos. Should we be doing the Boolean?
How come dark cloud cover isn't an auto scan, since candles are so widely used?
Frustrated and still in pursuit, Michelle
Thanks for any future guidance. We appreciate your help.

Here you will find the Boolean 1 PCF method for that pattern:

Boolean PCFs for Candlestick Patterns

From this thread

PCFs and EasyScans for Candlestick Patterns

Dark Cloud Cover

Close as % of Open 1day ago (100.01 to MAX)
Body as % of Candle 1day ago (50 to MAX)
Range 1day ago as % of Average (100.01 to MAX)
Close as % of Open (MIN to 99.99)
Bottom of Body Today as % of BoB 1day ago (100.01 to MAX)
Top of Body Today as % of ToB 1day ago (100.01 to MAX)
*Sort in descending order*

If you go to the thread

PCFs and EasyScans for Candlestick Patterns

You will find all six of these PCFs there. Add each of them to your system, calculate them and then create a new EasyScan.

Add all six of these to your EasyScan and limit them based on what is (inside the parens). Use the VALUE for limiting in the range selector. 100.01 to MAX means take all values above 100. MIN to 99.99 means take all values below 100, etc.
