I would appreciate help with a scan looking for stocks trading within a percentage or range of percentage of a crossover of either a Simple moving average or exponential moving average.

Example is 2% above crossover of EMA13 and EMA34. this could be for daily, weekly hours or minutes.I would really appreciate this Bruce if you can help out . TIA

The following Condition Formula should return true for when price is at least 2% above price the last time EMA13 crossed through EMA34 in either direction as long as that crossover happened within the most recent 105-bars. Something similar for the value of the intersection of the two moving averages quickly gets too long and slow to be practical or post in the forums.

Thx for your prompt response . Wondering anyway you can show me how to set it up as above the cross over or below that crossover . Example anything beween 3 - 5%  above a cross up of EMA 13 & EMA34 . Also what would i need to change in order to do the reverse if am trying to short a stock for instance, Once again thanks for your assistance

Note that I have already indicated that attempting to find the value of the crossover instead of price at the time of the crossover results in a formula which is too long and slow to be practical or post in the forums. This means that the following instructions still only relate to price at the time of the crossover.

Consider for a moment the formula for a percent change between the previous bar and the current bar:

100 * (C / C1 - 1)

If the most recent cross of interest were on the previous bar, then this would be the percentage that price was above or the price at the time of the cross.

In the formula given in my first response, we were checking for this value to be greater than or equal to 2:

100 * (C / C1 - 1) >= 2

But since we did not actually know when the cross happened, we substituted a very long formula for C1 to calculate what price was on the bar when the moving averages crossed in either direction (as long as that cross happened within the most recent 105 bars).

We can create a similar short formula to check if price is between 3 - 5% above the previous bar:

3 <= 100 * (C / C1 - 1) AND 100 * (C / C1 - 1) <= 5

But this form would mean we need to substitute for C1 twice resulting in a formula which is too long and slow to be practical or post in the forums. We can make a slightly less intuitive formula for this which only has one instance of C1 for which we would need to make a substitution:

ABS(C / C1 - 1.04) <= .01

Note that 1.04 represents the point that is exactly half way between being 3% and 5% above C1 ((1.03 + 1.05) / 2 = 1.04) and that .01 represents half the distance between 3% and 5% ((1.05 - 1.03) / 2 = .01).

A similar formula for being between 3 and 5% below would be:

ABS(C / C1 - .96) <= .01

Now it becomes a matter of substituting in a formula for price at the time of the last cross into these formulas. In the case of a XAVGC13 crossup through XAVGC34 and being 3-5% above the price at the bar of the cross (within 105 bars), we get:
