I saw a prior entry where someone asked how to exclude closed end funds and the answer given was to chose a universe of "All Common Stocks" so as to exclude ETFs. This does not exclude closed end funds however. How does one exclude closed end funds from searches?

Whenever the following says to right-click on the WatchList, it means the WatchList itself (the symbols in the WatchList), not the name of the WatchList.
- Right-click on the WatchList and select Clear All Flags in System.
- Bring up the Closed End Fund - Debt WatchList.
- Right-click on the WatchList and select Flag | All Symbols in List.
- Bring up the Closed End Fund - Equity WatchList.
- Right-click on the WatchList and select Flag | All Symbols in List.
- Bring up the Closed End Fund - Debt WatchList.
- Right-click on the WatchList and select Flag | All Symbols in List.
- Bring up the US Common Stocks WatchList.
- Right-click on the WatchList and select Copy All Symbols | To Other List...
- Select (New Personal WatchList) from the Copy symbols to: drop-down menu.
- Give the WatchList a name and select OK.
- Bring up the Personal WatchList you just created.
- Right-click on the WatchList and select Remove Flagged Symbols from List.
The resulting Personal WatchList should have the Closed End Funds removed.

So I can't build a scan or watchlist that automatically removes or excludes ETFs and Closed End Funds?
Is that right?

I cannot think a completely automated method of doing so in either TeleChart 2007 or TC2000 version 12.
